I am not sure that Van and Dirk work together as well as a married couple. The sexual tension that is normally there is gone.

Van and Dirk are on their honeymoon when Van spies a woman dressed in a skirt and heels running on the beach. Her private investigator mind tells her there is something wrong since the woman isn't dressed for a run on the beach. When the woman is shot and dies in Savannah's arms Dirk calls 911. Watching the local police bumble around contaminating the crime scene, Dirk and Savannah decide they must put their honeymoon on hold and investigate the murder themselves. ( )

Savannah Reid is finally married to Dirk Coulter and they are honeymooning on the island, Santa Tesla in a motel. The next day they get s surprise from John and Ryan and it's the rest of their honeymoon in the lighthouse keepers' cottage.
It's cozy and as they are looking out over the scene she notices a woman running, being chased and as they follow her she's shot at and dies in Savannah's arms in the water. The police on the scene are not on top of things as they walk all over the evidence.
The couple head back to the mainland for their weapons and the rest of the Magnolia Detective Agency-her relatives all agree to go to the island to help investigate the crime.
If anything could go wrong it does and then some. Funny at times and downright hilarious at other times while they are try not to step on one anothers' toes along with the police chief.
Love the story line and can't believe they finally got married! and love the details of the island. What a dream...but can they stay married.
They have many clues to follow up on to solve this one and a super surprise at the very end, touching!

The book begins with detective Savannah Reid, of the Moonlight Detective Agency, newly married and on her honeymoon in Santa Tesla with Dirk Coulter, a police detective and her ex-partner. It doesn't take long for the blissful couple to encounter a murder in progress.

As the story unfolds, the crime proves to be the tip of the iceberg. An intricate web of deceit is unearthed and ends on a shocking note.

Having never read any of its predecessors, I was worried that I would not be able to connect the dots in terms of past character development.

I'm happy to state that I was wrong.

Killer Honeymoon stands well on its own merits as a humorous and romantic murder-mystery.
