This story shows what is being seen by someone going on a walk in their neighborhood one evening. It shows the people doing yard work, the family having a BBQ, the squirrel running from tree to tree, and the bay with long boats. Then it shows the walk back home and how things have changed now because it is later the family has gone inside, the squirrel is no longer jumping around, the lady is inside her house now instead of in her front yard.

40 months - it's a walk through a neighborhood. One might ask why read about it when we could just go for a walk in our neighborhood and make our own observations. This would likely be more interesting and relevant to a three year old. Not a bad book just didn't really have anything to make us want to read it more than once or twice. ( )

I like the simplicity of this one--they are just stating what they see in the neighborhood as they take a nightly walk. The Illustrations are nice too.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The author uses gentle wording that pairs with the illustrator's wonderful use of color that soften's the mood and tone of the story. In the story, the mother takes her daughter for an evening stroll around their neighborhood. Along their walk, they encounter people and animals' going about their daily evening routines such as the lady tending to her garden, squirrels searching for food, folks mowing their lawn, the mail man delivery of mail, and long boats sailing along the bay. As the two individuals return home, there appears to be subtle nuances of shading that creates a sense of assurance that all is okay in the world and now we can return home to sleep. I believe that this is a great book to read to young readers because it has a sense of closure at the end which would leave the reader with a sense of contentment. ( )
