This story is about a girl and her dog who find a good with only one foot. It is isolated from the other geese and she cant fly or swim. After awhile the goose ties to swim and is successful. Then the girl is worried that her goose wont be able to fly back for the winter. When all the other geese leave she cant find hers. After the seasons pass her goose comes back with a family.

This is a wonderful story was inspired by a real goose that shows on the author’s pond with one leg. Goose’s story is one of courage and hope that is told through the eyes of a young girl and depicted using dramatic paper collage technique. This realistic story reveals a message of determination to overcome a disability from the young girl as well as the goose. The girl’s reflections about the plight of the goose are particularly sensitive and realistic. An especially appealing story for children who are growing up in the country where geese are a common sight.
