Now in its 6th edition, there isn't a better tome to orient oneself to collection development and management. This edition is nicely updated but maintains the concept of the collection being the heart of a library. How to manage what is there is what this publication covers well. Whether used as a ready reference or as a text to come to a good understanding of how to manage and develop appropriate collections in a library, this book is well worth using. Highly recommended.
