The ending sucked!
Lucy is still living with her cold aunt Irene. Her cousin Angela is still missing and Lucy is pretty sure she is dead. Her friend and priest, Father Matt is trying to help her but doesn't believe in all her "hallucinations". She sees creatures in the night and is sure that someone or something is trying to kill her and all of loved ones. She receives a package one day and it turns out to be a grave stone with the words R.I.P. Angela. Crazy stuff keeps happening and no one is around to witness it. She finds a hurt guy who claims to be Byron's brother, nurses him back to health and then when Byron's brother shows up to meet his long lost gran, it's a completely different person whom she doesn't trust one bit. Her friend Dakota proves to be true and amazing though, believing her and open to helping her in all ways that she needs. But then the creatures attack Dakota. Luckily she lives but is at risk just by being friends with Lucy.
This book did have too much filler. Way too much. It was the same thing over and over again and it was just a whole lot of build up. Yet the anticipation of a great ending kept me turning the pages like a maniac. It's a great page-turner.
The ending though: Spoiler Alert:
WTF. It almost seems as if Ms. Cusick was rushing out the door when she wrapped up this book. It is one of the worst endings I have ever read. Not only is 4 guys claiming to be head over heels for her, willing to die for her, but she seems like she is into all of them as well! She doesn't just pick one, it seems like the one in front of her at that particular time is the one she wants the most. She Liked all of them with the exception of Nicholas equally. I'm just thinking PICK ONE!!! You can't just choose to be in love with the one who doesn't die in the book. She would be holding hands with Matt, kissing him, boom he's dead so now she's making out with Jared. Huh? And the actual ending. Jared tells her she can't go to his world, she needs to enjoy her life and her friends. Forget her best friend Dakota who has been there for her through everything and risked her life her Lucy. There isn't even a mention of their friendship when the book ends on Lucy choosing to go to their world. WTF…bros over hoes Lucy. ( )

This review is going to be for a combination of both books: The Unseen and The Unseen 2.

First, for the good news. This book was different from what I expected, which I liked. I thought it was going to be about Lucy seeing ghosts but it wasn't about that at all and went in a completely different direction. The author does a really great job of creating suspense in these stories. I constantly wondered what was going to happen next, which made it a very quick and easy read (don't let the size of the books fool you---the font is large). There were some genuinely spooky parts---in the first book, when Lucy was home alone and she thought someone was in her house I was definitely creeped out. And I will admit that, since I was reading it at night, it made me go around the house and make sure all the doors were locked. Also the part where Matt and Lucy discover the body on the altar was pretty gross.

Now, onto the bad news. I felt like the entire book was just a bunch of the same thing over and over. Lucy would think she saw or felt something...but then nothing happend. Lucy meets that shadowy guy at the blood bank...and nothing happens. Nicolas and Lucy go to the accident site... and nothing happens. She goes with Dakota to the mausoleum... and well, what do know, nothing happens! Overall, the entire series was just a constant build up, but that was it.

Other issues I had: all the interesting characters die. No, wait. Let me rephrase that: pretty much every character dies and we don't get to see what happens to the ones who survive.

Throughout the book Lucy makes some pretty dumb decisions and even she knows it at time, but she still does them anyways.

Was it really supposed to be that much of a surprise that Angela was dead? I thought that was sort of given away at the very beginning. By the time it was revealed I didn't even care anymore.

The ending was completely rushed and not explained at all. I was left confused as to who was good, who was bad, what happened to Lucy, and if the "evil guys" actually won in the end.

The writing style was ok---easy to read and flowed pretty well. I did not like the replaying of what characters said in Lucy's head. I mean, I just read it like three pages ago so I don't need to read it again! Also, there was way too much use of italics. Seriously, flip through the book and you'll notice it too. I may be being picky, but it got on my nerves after a bit.

In conclusion, this book gets one star for suspense and having a cool cover. I wouldn't say not to read it, because I did enjoy it at parts. If you are going to check it out, don't go into it expecting much and don't look forward to a satisfying ending, because you won't be getting one.
For those of you who have read it, am I being too critical? Honestly, I wanted to like this book, but it just didn't do it for me.
