Praying for each other, or intercessory prayer, can deepen our connection to the Divine Presence and help bring healing to individuals and our communities. The author offers a personal account of her discovery of and experiences with intercessory prayer and describes the many forms it takes among Friends today, from interpersonal prayer support to meetings for healing to a prayerful witness for peace on earth. “Intercessory prayer in all its variations supports those we love, helps our meetings to be spiritually vital, and contributes to making manifest God’s healing and transforming presence on earth.” Praying for each other – intercessory prayer – can deepen our connection to the Divine Presence and help bring healing to individuals and our communities. Marcel Martin offers a personal account of her discovery of and experiences with intercessory prayer and describes the many forms it takes among Friends today, from interpersonal prayer support to meetings for healing to a prayerful witness for peace on earth. Calling readers to "hold one another in the Light," she declares: "intercessory prayer in all its variations supports those we love, helps our meetings to be spiritually vital, and contributes to making manifest God's healing and transforming presence on earth." Quakers refer to intercessory prayer as "holding one another in the Light." This practice, Martin writes, is "an opportunity to participate in divine love." In Quaker thought, it is the experience of the Divine that is foremost; Martin is true to this tradition, describing the variety of ways intercessory prayer nourishes the individual and community spiritual experience. I was particularly grateful for her elegant reminder that God is always present; we simply need to step into the Divine flow that awaits our attendance. There is considerable food for thought in this beautifully written essay. It left me feeling positive, hopeful, and inspired to be a better human being. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
