Spy vs. Spook: Book One Mark Vincent is WBISâWashington Bureau of Intelligence and Security. Quinton Mann is staunchly CIA. Mark thinks the CIA is full of dilettantes who leave him and the rest of the WBIS to clean up their messes. Quinn thinks most WBIS agents are sociopathic loose cannons. So they don't exactly get along. Of course, just because they don't like each other doesn't mean they can't play mind games on each other. Or sleep together. But when an explosion at Mark's apartment sends Quinn to the morgue to ID a body, he has to reevaluate his position on denial.… (mere)

Uh. I ended up skimming a lot of this book. For me the way the story is told is just as important as the story itself, and this just didn't work for me. The structure was weird, re-telling the same things from both MC's POV annoying - I get it, I just read it, don't repeat it -, the writing outdated; like when you watch a 80's or 90's TV show rerun and see all those awful hairdos and clothes they wore, and they make you shudder. I got the same feeling from this. Maybe it's been lying in Tinnean's desk drawer for a while before getting published.

I enjoyed Mark's snark a lot and the stunts he pulled were hilarious. Quinn I didn't like so much, probably because his formality. The only time he seemed to relax was when he was plotting on getting in Mark's pants or letting Mark get into his, and when they actually lost said pants. The sex was decent. Overall I'd liked to see more stuff happen with the two of them, now each stuck to his own corner far too much. ( )

4 stars. loved getting to know the characters. didn't even mind going over the same events with a different point of view. kind of an abrupt ending, which makes me glad I already bought the second book in the series so I can find out what happens next! ( )

I'm just here to recommend this book to everyone, and to say that this book goes straight to my favorites and hg (holy grail) shelves.

Actually, I love the first installment so much that I purchased the sequels in ebook format before I even finished it. I guess those would do as I wait for my paperback versions to arrive. Ü

A little bit of warning though... I believe Tinnean's words are actually infused with caffeine, to be perfectly honest. Time check: 02.42 a.m. and I'm going start reading the sequel. F•ck sleep! ( )
