Mrs. Connor's first-grade class is having a counting race! They're trying to count from one to ten in less than a second. But no one is fast enough to get all the way to ten before time is up. That is, until the first graders work together to come up with a faster way to count!

Mrs. Conner challenges her 1st grade class to count to 10 in 1 second--nobody succeeds until they get together and work as a team to figure out a solultion. They finally succeed when they count by two's!

This would be a good introduction to students about working together to find a solution in Math -- there's more than one way to find an answer and succeed! ( )

Kearsten says: Mrs Connor challenges her 1st graders to count to ten in one second. After a couple of students are unsuccessful, the class asks that they be aloud to discuss and come up with a solution together. They are successful!

I really liked this one. It's great for a 1st grade reader, encourages problem solving and teamwork, and portrays math as a fun and exciting activity.

Recommended!! ( )
