Dark Storm held few surprises and felt like it was lacking the intensity that the Carpathian novels usually have and it seems that there is nothing new to learn about the Carpathians.

In Dark Storm you know from the begianing that their will be a happy ever after for the couple Riley & Dax. In the book the heron Riley gains her magical abilities a little to easily for my liking. The evil was over come without too much difficulty and the fight scenes where lacking. The dialog wasn't witty enough and their always was someone at hand with a rescue or an answer or supplies to help them out.

I will say that I like Dax as a Carpathian and the Old One that joins with him. I also liked the new ritual with the the flower. Very sensual. ( )

I'm a big fan of the Carpathians, but this book was special. The lead female was both strong and feminine; she accepted her growing powers as well as her lifemate (fate) with equal serenity. I've loved all of the others for their insecurities, fears, and courage... but this woman makes me smile with how simply she accepts the life she leads. ( )
