This book is about a girl going on an adventure duirng the night. The images in this book were very helpful in understanding the emotions of the story. The illustrations within the book, The House In the Night, were not as appealing to me as other picture books. Although I liked the story of the book, I do find the illustrations quite exquisite, giving readers a sense of imagination and illumination. While the illustrations were great, I did find that they were also quite lacking in color and because of this the book has a lack of emotion that comes with color in general. The illustrations contain simple, delicate, and primarily pencil illustrations that contain some yellows in certain objects throughout the story. At first it looked as if the yellow coloring was centered around objects that give off light such as the moon, lamps, and stars. However, it seems that other objects throughout the story are also illuminated such as a stuffed bear, flowers, and books. I believe that the yellow illuminated objects are in fact items that are important to the main child character of the story. A gentle journey of the night, a young girl and the reassuring ends and order of the universe. Themes of naming nightime things and how they relate to everything (sun and moon) are wonderfully created under the background of a fictional flying dream journey on the back of a night bird. A reassuring and very deep telling of a nighttime story about how things fascinate us. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
