A very quick read about mindfulness and creating meaning in your physical (and other) spaces. Nothing in the book was new to me. But it is a good to have a book to remind you living a mindful life. ( )

An unassuming book: octavo (?), with a pleasing suede-like cover, and a subdued palette. Simple and quick to read, easily cracked open to read a random brief chapter, only to find I've read through to the end and might as well pick back up at the start, properly.

The advice is good, and practical, but it's as much how it is said as what. It was best read once I'd decided to establish a meditiation habit, this book does not persuade me or build toward that conclusion, rather it takes the intent as given and provides practical insights into what might be part of that habit. Brevity without resort to superficial platitudes. Easily re-read, Hanh suggests practical ways of accessing the insights sought after through meditation. A reminder, but also a nudge.

Against expectation, I'll credit this book with motivating me to pick up meditating after my initial concerted effort, over a year ago. Be simple, the message seemed to be. Just try something, what interests you. Not a novel message, I suppose, but apparently what I needed. ( )
