The revived character a pretty stereotypical blustering loud character that causes chaos wherever he goes and gets away with it through ignorance and force of personality. It becomes downright cartoonish in places.
The humour is fairly basic so doesn’t age badly but it probably wasn’t that funny to begin with.
There are some interesting ideas in terms of the method of suspension, Tardigrades even make an appearance, i wasn’t even sure we discovered those before the invention of the electron-microscope but here they are in the 1860’s.
Not sure who if anyone i’d recommend this one too but it passed the time. As long as your braced for the farcical humour you might find some elements of interest here.
