misshiss: Very well written with plenty of suspense, mystery and a touch of romance. My kind of book.

I fell in love with Dani Pettrey’s books when I read the Chesapeake Valor series, which is set not all that far from where I live, and I knew I had to try out this series because Alaska, it is one of the most beautiful places — that I would love to visit one day. The story opened with past secrets, broken hearts, people intent on harming the characters that I soon fell in love with.

While I loved this book there are many mistakes mentioned, the main character/s pasts’ were painful, and mistakes were made, we see some of them and there are many mentions of those mistakes.
Which makes this book for older readers, 17/19 up for romance, violence, etc. In all this was a wonderful start to a series, having me eager to read more from Pettrey.

I have found that in each of Dani Pettrey’s novels that there are characters who are not perfect, who know they need God’s forgiveness and are moving past their hurting pasts causing readers to enjoy following the hero and heroine's story. And this one was no different.

There is some content that I disliked leading to the loss of one star but since it wasn’t from a main character, from a less than liked character I don’t mind it too, too much. ( )

Yes! A Christian publisher publishes this book, but the Christian theme was on the backburner of the story. You could see that the main characters, Bailey & Cole, believe in Christ and turn for his help. As a non-Christian, the truth didn't bother me. Even when I read that the book is Christian fiction without knowing it, I was a little hesitant.
The truth I picked the book after finding Book Outlet & Bookdepository from booktube videos. It was one of the first books I hauled 4.5 years ago, and after reorganizing my bookshelves, I found it in my long TBR book, and I was in the mood for something new in a place I haven't read before, Alaska.
The book didn't disappoint me at all. I loved the writing, the relationship of McKenna's family and their friends, the backstory of Yancey, and the history of Russian-American Alaska.
I believe that the book and the series should be read in order because even though the book is of other McKenna members of the family, they are intertwined, and there might be spoilers about the earlier books.
I am unhauling the book because it is not a book that I will re-read and have it on my bookshelf to get dusty when someone else can enjoy it. I am thrilled that I read something new for me, not so much as a genre. Still, our place in the world that there is a minor chance that I will go there. Still, I traveled there by reading about it, diving into the Alaskan Pacific ocean, and learning an American and Russian history I had never heard before. That's the thing I love most about reading; I can travel the world and learned that I hadn't been taught during my school years. ( )

This book is as read as it's going to get. 26% into the book and I don't care about any of the people, I keep forgetting who everyone is, and I certainly don't care if the heroine stays and gets the guy.
