Explores the morphology and behavior of animal tails. Includes a range of taxa, including mammals, fish, reptiles, birds, insects, and bacteria. "There are almost as many types of tails as there are animals--scaled tails, talking tails, rattling tails, upside-down tails, swatting tails, swimming tails, spraying tails, warning tails, wagging tails, venomous tails, cooling tails, balancing tails, and so many more. You'll never look at animal tails the same way again! Discover the wild and wonderful world of animals tails. Explore the science of tails with fun, easy experiments, and laugh at cool tail trivia that will dazzle and surprise."--P. [4] of cover.… (mere)

Little Kid Reaction: I let a friend of mine share this book with her class of second graders and they really loved it,

Big Kid Reaction: I really enjoyed this book and learned a lot about how animals use their tails. There was a lot of information that I had never read before.

Pros: Lots of great photography, fun facts, and a chance for kids to experiment with the functions of tails make this perfect for fun reading, in the classroom or for home schooling.

Excellent pictures throughout the book and interesting facts. I wasn’t fond of the layout between the pictures and text. It made it less interesting to read. I found some of the descriptions to long and skimmed over the writings more then once to gather the information in my head.

I did not know a lot about animal tails to be honest I never thought about them before. It was fun learning about them I just wish it had been presented better. ( )
