The scope of the story was large, including travel across vast distances in space and time, a dystopian world controlled by synthetic intellect and enforced by robotic agents.
The description of one such robot truly surprised me - as it can possibly fit with the modern hollywoodian image, with beautiful organic sweeping curves and all.
The artificial intellect described had interesting devious qualities to it, as it developed it's personality along with abilities over the millennia.
This was also my first book by Jack Williamson, which lead me to start reading his other later books.
This is an early work of a true science fiction visionary whose imagination soars high above, and in my mind could very well be attributed a status of an early space opera (there were not many locations or aliens, but the feel is there). The only ... obstacle a contemporary reader must overcome with this book though, is the writing style indicative of the book's age. ( )
