1. The specific behavior observed is:
__ Refusal to comply
__ Aggressive behavior towards others
__ Disrespect
__ Meltdown or rages
The book does not generally define the terms used in these lists, so individuals will have to decide what actually comprises "disrespect." If this were a work directed towards professional clinicians or diagnosticians, that would be a fatal flaw. But, since the intended audience is not the professional or research community, it's probably not a big deal. I would still recommend that this is a book that should accompany other, more comprehensive, books about OCD and Tourette's. Section Five, "Other Helpful Checklists," does list a short bibliography of other recommended works on the subject. I'm hesitant to consider this a stand-alone purchase on the subject.
I don't hesitate to recommend it very strongly to its intended audience. It very responsibly, and very nicely starts out with an overview, with definitions(!) of these two disorders, as well as related disorders such as ADHD and dysgraphia. Note that there are no citations in the body of the text, so this book would be less useful for someone formally researching this subject.
I can easily give this 5 stars since it is spot on for its intended audience of parents and teachers. My caveats have more to do with the wrong audience purchasing and using this book.
