This is a wonderful book that teaches young children about self acceptance. Teaching and learning the beauty of all of our differences - and embracing them.

This book is a good book to teach about diversity. From the cover, I didn't expect the boy to be bullied by others by the color of his skin, the shape of his nose, nor the curl pattern of his hair. He looks extremely happy from the cover which is eventually at the end. At school the little boy is bullied by white kids, when he returns home he cries and let his mom know what's going on. She did a great job explaining to him that he is perfect in his chocolate skin. This is a great book to teach diversity because events that occurred in this book happens every day throughout schools. This book is a great read for young children to realize that everyone is different, and that people that have different color of skins are no different from them. It also teaches them that it is important to love yourself no matter what you look like.
