Title: Saving Hope: Men of the Texas Rangers Book #1
Author: Margret Daley
Pages: 336
Year: 2012
Publisher: Abingdon Press
What was the title or name of the author of the last book you read that you just either couldn’t put down or didn’t want it to end? If it has been a while since you have read a great novel, may I suggest this one? Margret Daley does an excellent job of mixing a couple of genes as well as including unique characters with everything set in the state of Texas! While this is a work of fiction, it isn’t hard to imagine it happening in real life. From the heat and high humidity of Texas, to the complex case Ranger Sheridan is working on are but a flavor of what happens between the pages.
Kate is a Texan from a very wealthy family with a down-to-earth heart who seeks to obey the call the Lord places on her heart. A home is set up for girls who for various reasons have become prostitutes, but want to leave that way of life. Kate has a trust fund that she has been using to fund this shelter. She lives on the third floor of the home when not working with girls. Her mother and father are rich and famous, but due to the recent publicity surrounding Kate’s work decide to pull the funding. Now Kate has to locate new funding, find a missing girl, and deal with at least two other girls’ murders.
Ranger Sheridan is a widower who is raising his 14-year-old daughter with his mother’s help since his wife has been murdered. Mandy loves to compete in various rodeo competitions until recently when she starts folding under peer pressure to fit in. To complicate matters, Sheridan’s mom has been supporting his daughter’s disobedience, and her life has never been anything other than a mess.
King owns a ranch, but that is just a front for what really brings in the money, allowing him to maintain the lifestyle he wants. After his wife died, her niece worked for him until a few months back when she left to go to the shelter. Now, King believes he has the upper hand and a way to draw Rose back to him and the job he expects her to do. Does King have anything to do with the two murders? King is not the name he is known by in his upper class social circles, that is for the “other” business. Does King have everything wrapped so tight that Sheridan will never uncover his true identity?
To compound all this, there are twisted family ties, someone pulling King’s strings, and the murder of a spouse after only five years of marriage. In the novel, readers will experience a spellbinding mystery, as well as suspense to the max! The characters are intriguing and believable. The compassion reflected in the heart of Kate is true to the hearts of some people too. The hardness of her mother is also seen as I am sure readers can identify with in some people. No one can turn on the TV today and not see examples of both compassion and hard hearts refusing to love others. Faith is a component of this story, forged through various trials.
The sequel to this novel, Shattered Silence, has already been released and will be reviewed as well. Whether I would have reviewed it or not, I would have bought the book to read without a doubt. To have mystery, suspense, police action, and fighting for those in bondage makes a novel such as this irresistible to read and share. Make time to read as well as enjoy The Men of the Texas Rangers Series.
My rating is 5+ stars!

Kate Winslow is the director of the Beacon of Hope school, which shelters girls who have been rescued from prostitution rings. When one of her students disappears under dangerous circumstances, she teams up with Texas Ranger Wyatt Sheridan to rescue the girl. In midst of all the stress and horror following the girl's disappearance, Kate and Wyatt unexpectedly (to them) fall in love. I am a HUGE fan of books that point out that juvenile offenders are more often than not victims of their situation, and that they have to withstand finger pointing and prejudice of their neighbors and employers while they're struggling to get their lives back on track. Saving Hope does an excellent job of showing this to the reader without lecturing. The romance is sweet. The action is engaging. The suspense is high (or would be if the blurb didn't give away more information than it should!!!). There were a few moments of awkward internal monologues in the first couple of chapters, but they were fleeting. Overall, I was very impressed. ( )

A suspenseful read that deals with human trafficking. This book captures you from chapter 1 and doesn't let go until the last chapter. Kate Winslow runs a Beacon School of Hope, a place for girls to try to get away from prostitution. A young girl, Rose goes missing from Hope House. Kate does not really believe that Rose returned to prostitution. A race to find the girl before something terrible happens begins. She meets up with Texas Ranger, Wyatt Sheridan, a single dad trying to raise a rebellious daughter after his wife dies. Together Wyatt and Kate will try to unravel this puzzle but will it be too late for Rose and for Wyatt's troubled daughter?

I really liked the way the author develops her characters and the storyline. I can't wait to read the next book in the Men of the Texas Ranger series, Shattered Silence, which is due out September 2012. Saving Hope was the first book I read of Margaret Daley's but it won't be my last. ( )

I have read a lot of Margaret's books but most of them were the smaller ones, I was really surprised when I received this one from Wynn Wynn Media to read and I chose to review it. This book will really open your eyes and minds and I hope you get a copy and read for yourself as I can never do it justice.

A teenager Rose went missing from the Beacon of Hope School ( a home for girls who were taken out of prostitution) and the Texas ranger and the school director Kate Winslow were really worried that this might be human trafficking. Kate goes missing alone with Texas Ranger Wyatt Sheridan's own daughter. Wyatt begins to try to find this ring of evil doers and to get it stopped before the ones he loves is harmed. Rose is fifteen year old really wants a new life and puts others before herself.

After Wyatt's wife died he swore that he would never fall in love again but as the race to find the women continures he finds himself having feelings for Kate.

I have read a few books before concering human trafficking and it really will touch your life to read about what really happens out in this sinful world. I have some young women granddaughers and worry about them as they seem to not to think about who they hand out with. I just pray that God will take care of them as I think if something as this should happen in my family I could not take it.
