Author really made a point of including all the characters from her previous books in the series into the story. It helped that I was familiar with their past adventures. Amazingly even bad boy Richard from prison still added to the story. Humorous parts with the new sheriff trying to date, the veterinarian afraid to fall in love again, and adult kids having a hard time accepting their widowed parents finding love. A bit confusing with so many short segments but it still all came together by the end. ( ) I received this book as a gift. And although I had not read the "Heart of Texas" series, I decided to read this book independently. A reviewer on Amazon shared that it can be read independent of the initial series and I heartily agree. If time permits, I'll go back and read the others some time. In generally every Debbie Macomber title, there is a character who knits, but not this time...a nice change of pace. And yes, I know that Debbie loves knitting. I do too! Still, it was a refreshing change. I became a Debbie Macomber fan a long time ago, and this title continues the same wonderful essentials: characters you enjoy spending time with, small town Americana, sharing lives through hard work, mutual respect, love and friendship. Don't miss it! Annie is ready for change in her life, and so at the urging of her best friend Jane she moves to Promise, Texas. What she finds there is a wonderfully supportive community of folks who are willing to support and love her. This includes a local widower who might turn out to be more than just a friend. Meanwhile we also learn about the sherrif's quest to win over a local schoolteacher, a host of other family and relationship problems, and a mystery involving the nearby ghost town of Bitter End. This is an enjoyable read for those that like to escape to a place filled with cozy and sweet people--and also lots of budding romances. I enjoyed it for that--and this is part of a series so if it turns out to be your cup of tea there are plenty more just like it to read. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

HTML: www.DebbieMacomber.com Let Debbie Macomber take you into the HEART OF TEXAS In Promise, Texas, people know what really matters--family, friends, community. And they know that love gives meaning to every day of their lives.... Some of the people in Promise are from old ranching families--like the Westons and Pattersons--folks who arrived in the Hill Country more than a century ago. And then there are newcomers like Annie Applegate, who opens a bookstore in town. Some might say Annie does things backward. She marries a widowed veterinarian for the sake of his kids...and discovers that marriage can lead to love. In Promise, everyone's life is a story! The people here, like people everywhere, experience tragedies as well as triumphs, sorrow as well as joy. This town, like towns everywhere, has its share of secrets. But whether times are good or bad, you're never alone in a place like Promise. And as Annie Applegate knows, that makes all the difference. .No library descriptions found. |
