Mom to the rescue with her well known kissing hand! Sweet story that little ones, especially those who share Chester's fear, will enjoy and be comforted by. ( ) In my opinion this is another good book. It starts off with a baby animal going to bed. Many kids struggle with going to bed because they are afraid of the dark, want to keep playing, etc. The baby raccoon did not want to go to bed and kept having scary things happen to him. On one of the pages he thought he saw spiders in his sleeping place. To help him feel better his mom gave him kisses to keep in his hand for when he gets scared. This is a comfort thing that many parents and kids can also do to help combat sleeping problems. The illustrations in the book are life like enough to be believable but cartoon like enough to be fun to read. The last page shows a scene of a forrest. The detail in the wood and trees in very realistic which will help kids relate to the story. The overall message of this book is that you don't have to be afraid and that moms always look out of their kids. My Opinion: I received a copy of this book free of charge through NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion. I read this book for my grandson and I'll let his words be my review: "Again! Again!" He loved the fact that Chester Raccoon had to go to bed while "the rest of the world is waking up". He also thought the shadows were cool and "not scary at all because it's light out, silly!" I think he totally missed the subtext, haha, but he loved the book, so he and I both give the it 5 silly stars! I have to go now because he saw me typing this, saw the picture of the book above, and is requesting that I read it to him yet again :D Families With Younger Children, Make Room for Chester on you bookshelves! Chester sleeps in the sunlight hours and is awake in the moonlight hours, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have his own fears when sleeping. For some of our children, the moon casting shadows through the night time window make fearsome images in the room. For Chester, it's the moving sunspot that brings his fears. Help your child with their fears by reading Chester and letting them know that they are neither alone in having fears, but also, there fears are not to be feared after all. Thank you Net Galley, Tanglewood Press and Audrey Penn for allowing me to enjoy this digital book! What child has not feared monsters under the bed? Chester Raccoon is no different. When he goes to bed in the afternoon, the sun is up, and it throws shadows against the floor and walls of his bedroom. Chester thinks these shadows are animals that could harm him. He cannot go to sleep, just as your child cannot when the monster fear arises. Mrs. Raccoon gives Chester a gentle kiss. This simple reminder that he is loved, helps Chester calm his fears and sleep. This board book will help little ones who fear those monsters, but they will not fear the book. The scary animals in Chester’s room are not at all scary. The spiders have smiles and look silly in the outfits they wear. This story will gently help your child deal with the monsters in his room without scaring or causing more demons. It is also a great way to introduce Chester Raccoon into your child’s story time. They will love all Chester and his pals. The illustrations are soft and gentle, just like the story. Chester Raccoon is cute and lovable. A Bedtime Kiss for Chester Raccoon is a wonderful bedtime story for the younger set. note: received from netgalley, courtesy of the publisher ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

Mrs. Raccoon soothes him with a Kissing Hand, and he is able to go to sleep. This sweet and decidedly unscary board book is both a light-hearted way to calm children's fears at bedtime, along with a gentle introduction to Chester Raccoon and the Kissing Hand for the younger child.
