Great fun!!

Such a great read. In fact this was a re-read for me. I'd originally read it when first released. Once read a book I tend to recall them rather viviidly.... Luckily enough time had passed that the things in recalled we're more quirky and not major plot points. It's a world of men and women who fight vampires. These wonderful people are called Immortal Guardians. Like vampires they we're once human.... Though while human had special gifts even then. In order to become immortal one need be gifted one to begin with. Vampire minds end up being ravaged by the very virus that turned them vampires. It gives them immortality but slowly drives them insane and completely irrational. The guardians are protecting humans. They do try to help vampires that somehiw fight off the virus to maintain their sanity. Basically there's a war between the vamps and Immortals.... Both have added speed, longevity, fast healing and need for blood.... But immortals carry their gifts they had while human into immortality. Marcus can see ghosts. The leader of the immortals Seth thrusts a young woman named Ami upon him to be his second. Essentially his point person in and before battle. Sort of knowing what he needs before he does. due to a past loss Marcus does not want anyone thrust upon him. It's like he's living on an accelerated adrenaline rush and doesn't care what danger befalls him . After losing someone VERY important to him (u can read that amazing story of Marcus before he's Immortal and the situation that caused him so much pain... And joy.... In the new release "RENDEZVOUS WITH YESTERDAY-THE GIFTED OJES BOOK 2) he basically lives to fight and kill his enemies. Slowly this unique and amazing woman curls her way into his being. She's utterly unique, and not quite like anyone else..there's a mystery there that Marcus and the readers will find out. It's a book of love, loss, redemption, revenge, pain, joy, and most of all life. If you enjoy paranormal romance or urban fantasy I suggest you give this a try. ( )

I love these guys.

I made the accidental discovery of this series by picking up book #4 (Sebastien's story) and immediately fell in love. With this in mind I hunted down the earlier stories and have not regretted it once.

In this episode we meet Marcus, one of the elder guardians, and Ami who is unlike any other being Marcus has ever encountered. Marcus is a grump and loner whom Seth decides need a Second. Ami, suffering from a form of PTSD and in need of safe keeping is tagged to be that Second.

From the first sparks flew, and not just the 'let's get horizontal' kind either. Ami is a fierce warrior and Marcus is not sure what to make of her. Along the way he thinks he's figured out Ami's secret, she's a vampire. (No, no spoilers from me so you'll have to read to find out what she is)

In the background of them falling in love we meet the self-proclaimed Vampire King and his evil doctor, Dr. Keegan. And get a glimpse of someone known only as the commander who might have a little something that the Immortal Guardians may have trouble defending themselves against.

I love the interaction between all these Immortals. The pranks, middle finger salutes, and fighting just because they feel the need to let off some steam. Seth and David, oh man, in my mind these two are creatures of such beauty and strength...pretty sure I'm in love with both of them. And since I read ahead in the series, I get it. I get why they are the way they are and it makes you love them so much more.

Also loved the sneak peek at Bastien's story, which happens to be the one I walked into this series with. Couldn't understand all the hostility towards him, light has been shined on that subject. What will happen with him and Dr. Lipton? Can Joe and Cliff be saved? Will Chris find his missing people? And just who the hell is this commander and what's his true motivation for wanting to destroy the Guardians? Guess I'll have to finish out the rest of the series to get my answers....but damn I am so looking forward to it. ( )

This is book two in the Immortal Guardians series. The novel has 284 pages on the Nook. Okay great series, really like Marcus, and Ami is a strong heroine. This group of immortals has a good story to tell and will keep you reading. Now waiting for the next installment.

Marcus Graden lost some one he has loved for longer than he had been an immortal. When Seth tells him that he will have a second and that he will be kind and look out for her, he isn't happy and plans to take a note out of his mentors page and chase her off. That is until he meets his new second and now he has to fight his attraction and chase her away.

Ami has a big secret she has to protect and Seth appoints her as Marcus' new second to get her used to other. Her immortal clearly doesn't want her around but she is determined to proof her worth, so she will not be scared off that easily. As their relationship changes she come to fear what his reaction to her secret will be. What if he sees her as a monster?

I am supposed to be reading In Still Darkness and Night Unbound but no, the characters are whispering in my ear...
