I recently learned that Anne Rice feels that her readers are not qualified to review her books.

Is Anne Rice qualified to write novels I find interesting?

Judging by this book......apparently not.

While I enjoyed the first two books of this series, and the first two books of the Mayfair Witches series.......by the time she hits book #3 she becomes too tedious to read. I know that there are umpteen more vampire books out there.....not interested in reading them. I have to admit I could not finish this book......it went nowhere slowly while inspiring a good deal of nausea.

Too bad, AR, because I adored the concept of the Talamasca. I hope that someday a better writer picks up the idea and runs with it. I would thoroughly enjoy it. ( )

Anne Rice has stated she wants book reviewers to be required to post with their full, real name. In response, I am removing all my reviews of her novels as I am unable and unwilling to do this. I am no longer comfortable reading or reviewing her work. Thank you.

Review Third book of the Vampire Chronicles, written by Anne Rice, published 1988. In this book there is a lot of exploration of the history and mythology of vampires and dates all the way back to Egypt. The book starts out with characters that have previously been introduced and then brings in the past history back to Egypt. This book can be called a work of feminism. The Queen wants to kill off the males because they don't deserve to live. Of course it is also a book of good and evil and about evolution of mankind. The author tries to base morality on ethics rather than religion and morality in the book is from the world view of a vampire. I don't plan to read any further in this series but read the first 3 as part of NPR 100 best horror books. ( )
