I've stumbled and fallen face first into the pit of love for this book. These two men, Xander and Chris have this deep, gut-wrenching, I will sell my soul to be with you kind of love. It's something that someone just DOES NOT encounter in a book all that often. When I do however, it's the most beautiful thing that could ever happen, a breath of fresh air. I love these two and I cried and hurt and it just made me feel so so much. Going into my favorite's pile. Will I ever be strong enough to read this again? I don't know. Long. Very long. Almost too long to tell this particular story. Amy Lane packs quite a story into this book. We see Chris and Xander over a very long journey - both in terms of the number of yeas and the number of things that happen. It was easy to connect to these characters and the dynamic between the two of them is great. There are points where things seem to drag a bit. There are also points where they jump around so much that I wasn't sure that we'd transitioned to a new scene until something didn't make sense anymore. And it was slightly frustrating to go on this whole journey and be left with that ending, but I can totally understand why it was left that way... Has the (non-series) sequel
Xander Karcek has only wanted two things in his life: Christian Edwards and basketball-the man he loves and the game that let him escape a childhood he'd rather forget. His two obsessions have served him well. He and Chris beat the odds and stayed together through high school, college, and right on to the NBA. But life under fame's microscope isn't easy, especially when two men are pretending to be frat-buddies so the world doesn't know they're the next best thing to married. Their relationship survives the sacrifices they make and the lies they tell to stay together, but when their secret is exposed, the fallout might destroy them when nothing else could. Chris and basketball are the two things holding Xander together. Now the world is asking Xander to make a choice. Is there an option that includes a future with the man he loves?
