I liked this book, as a straight action novel was enjoyable, kind of a mash up of The Prince of Persia and the Hunger Games. One gripe I had is that there are a lot of questions about the setting and the plot left for the next books in the series, the end of this book therefore didn't feel like an end, rather just a pause in the story. This book is classified as a young adult novel and is appropriate for that age group but I think that lead to believability problems for me. The Republic seemed like North Korea as run by kids, an oppressive regime where the majority of the population works in primitive factories and can't afford food but when they capture the country's most wanted criminal they put him in a holding cell for prisoners sentenced to death that feels just slightly more secure than a low security hospital room.

I ended up reading this book by accident. My husband ordered what he thought was the audio book and the actual hard copy book came instead. I said I'd read it - why not? Might be good.

The 4 stars are because I had a hard time putting this book down. I lost an hour of sleep last night because I just had to finish it.

It's a dystopian novel featuring teenagers attempting to survive in a crazy, dictatorial world. (Not a new theme, by any stretch of the imagination.) I found myself involved with the two main characters - June, a child prodigy in the military and beautiful to boot, and Day - a street smart kid with a big heart who's also on the Republic's most wanted list. And he's also good looking.

I liked how one chapter was Day's voice (in gold print, no less) and one chapter was June's voice (in black script). These chapters followed each other through the book. I resisted the urge to look ahead. It's been quite awhile since I've had a book I just couldn't put down.

I'll eventually read the next book in the series. ( )

Legend is a dual perspective book. I liked the dual perspective because it was flowing; when Day stopped, June started and vise versa. The plot is interesting and moves at a good pace. Several twists complicated the plot even though some were predictable.
I loved how June and Day loved and cared about their family and would do anything for them as well as their siblings did for them.
I can wait to get Prodigy on my hands. This book was borrowed from the library; shortly, I will love to buy the hardcover copy or even the series's box set. ( )

alright - I get where this book got all the good reviews from. There were some great points, but I found it highly predictable and and very slow in a lot of parts. I found it repetitive in others. I just came off Warcross and insisted in my brain I needed to read all other Lu books - which perhaps was a mistake. But after hearing about this series from other people I thought I'd give it a try anyway.

I like the strong female character - and I like where the series possibly could be headed - so I am still going to continue the series. Curious enough anyway to keep going. But it definitely doesn't get top marks from me. Seemed too typical for this genre. ( )

Solid writing and likable characters - I'd call it a good read-alike for [b:Delirium|7686667|Delirium (Delirium, #1)|Lauren Oliver|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1298079937s/7686667.jpg|10342808] ( )
