With a chapter titled The British Isles: Inglan is a Bitch: Britain and England how could I resist [b:The Big Book of National Insults: 1001 Xenophobic Quips and Quotes|3115005|The Big Book of National Insults 1001 Xenophobic Quips and Quotes|Julian L'Estrange|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1267787273s/3115005.jpg|3146291]? Did I mention the Britain/England chapter takes up pages 128 - 218 in a tiny 4"x6" illustrated 328pp book! Followed by Ireland the Impossible and The USA: A Giant Mistake. Hail xenophobia This is the anti-UN, a decided call against the brotherhood of nations, a poisonous feast of insults from one countryman to another. No nation is exempt: If anyone is born a German, God has sufficiently punished him, claim the Russians. "Every time Europe looks across the Atlantic to see the American eagle, it observes only the rear end of an ostrich," asserted writer H.G. Wells. And, Joan Rivers has something bad to say about the British: "Boy George is all England needs-another queen who can't dress." Every toxic drop of rudeness is organized by the different areas of the world, then by nationality, and finally by theme. Krauts, Kangaroos, Polocks, Japs, Spics, Rooskies: all the epithets make their appearance. Amusing and scurrilous, this is not for the politically correct. But, don't worry--for every undiplomatic barb leveled your country you'll find just as many to throw back No library descriptions found. |
