"Built on the success of her popular blog on RunnersWorld.com, Kristin Armstrongs new book is an intensely personal look at how running creates a special sense of community for the women who participate, and how it has helped her and many others mark the milestones of their lives. Each of the 26 chapters (the .2 is the epilogue) is dedicated to a specific theme, such as Friendship, Gratitude, Healing, Balance, and Motherhood. The specific experience of running is knitted into each chapter, but the real messages about inspiration, growth, family, empowerment, and endurance are universal. Mile Markers details the essence of Armstrongs belief that running is a valuable source of connection, life, and health for all the women who love it."--… (mere)

Good book. Armstrong is insightful and real. It is heavy on the running side (which is to be expected :) I am not a serious runner but I do run for fun. I think the book can be enjoyed by anyone, you don't have to be a serious long distance runner....however, I do think having an interest in running is a big help while reading it...
The layout of the book is a little hard to get used to. It jumps around by theme and each theme is full of little sections/stories that were blog entries. It also starts to get a little annoying that she keeps saying she isn't a runner.
On a side note...It was a little sad for me having moved away from Austin. It was sad reading about all the places she has run and seeing them in my mind and feeling that I had left my life behind in Austin :) ( )

Super enjoyable read, and so much motivation not only for running but for being a modern day woman/parent/worker/friend! Built upon lots of small essays, you know Kristin Armstrong totally gets it. Though the religion part of her philosophy is not my thing, she otherwise perfectly articulates why modern womanhood sucks/rules and how we deal. ( )

Touching snippets from a blog by a talented writer and runner.

Re-read December 2012. ( )
