Filled with short stories of all sorts written for the most part before the 1960s by various authors, some well known, others not so much to me. The stories included by known authors are interesting, because they are not the most well known stories those authors have written. For instance, there is a haunting Gothic-like tale by Rudyard Kipling set in England, and an uplifting story by William Faulkner about two brothers. I didn't read all the stories, I think this moment in my life is not a good one to try to read short stories, I found myself unable to commit to most of the stories and that made me not want to read. However, there were a few gems in here for me. "Two Soldiers" by William Faulkner, "The Incredible Journey" by Sheila Burnford, "The Catbird Seat" by James Thurber, "Gigi" by Colette, "A Christmas Memory" by Truman Capote and "Mrs. 'Arris Goes to Paris" by Paul Gallico. Several other stories were good, but these tickled me in one way or another. Several of the stories included were excerpts from longer stories and I didn't even try them. Again, probably my mental state at the moment. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
