Bright California detective joins her father in Dublin, hoping she can help him deal with some challenges in his life. She finds work with the Dublin police, and quickly breaks open a new case - and sees depth in it that the others aren't seeing. And there we go! A quite readable case, with an interesting plot twist. I'll try another by this author. The only person who could bring the Garda forensics team into the present day is American, quantico trained, forensic investigator, Reilly Steel. Then a series of deaths occur. It would seem that only Reilly can find the link between them. The story started off well, but I find the characters of Steel and Daniel Forrest too annoying, and soon became obvious who the guilty party was going to be. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

Prepare to be chilled to the bone... Forensic investigator Reilly Steel, Quantico-trained and California-born and bred, imagined Dublin to be a far cry from bustling San Francisco, a sleepy backwater where she can lay past ghosts to rest and start anew. She's arrived in Ireland to drag the Irish crime lab into the 21stcentury, plus keep tabs on her Irish-born father who's increasingly seeking solace in the bottle after a past family tragedy. But a brutal serial killersoon puts paid to that. When a young man and woman are found dead in an apartment, the gunshot wounds on their naked bodies suggest a suicide pact. But Reilly's instincts are screaming that something's seriously amiss, and as more bodies are discovered, the team soon realises that a twisted murderer is at work, one who seeks to upset society's norms in the most sickening way imaginable... On the one hand, the somewhat pretentious subtitle is true: I didn't put it down, though I can't say why. With a novel that I was a step ahead of the investigator most of the time, & that was riddled with (minor)plot errors, I normally would have tossed it unfinished. I can only guess that I was for some reason engaged with some minor subplot aspects that I wanted to see where they went. Overall, since I was kept in it, I'll have to call it decent, but I don't know that I'll try the sequel, because plot errors are a pet peeve. ( )
