"I will grow this flower," Fran said. "Grow Flower." But the tip stayed tiny. Fran is determined to make her flower bud grow. She feeds it all her favorites--strawberry ice cream, pizza, chocolate chip cookies--but this bud stubbornly refuses to cooperate. Finally fed up, Fran tosses the fussy flower aside and mother nature steps in. Lisa Bruce's delightful story of a budding young gardener is at once funny and informative. The quirky character of Fran, and her whimsical environment are engagingly portrayed in Rosalind Beardshaw's bold pastel illustrations. Grow Flower, Grow! (Fran's Flower) is a fun lesson for aspiring little green thumbs everywhere..

In this story a little girl named Fran learns that seeds need water and sunshine to grow into a flower.

This is a fiction book about a little girl that tries to grow a flower using the many things she likes (pizza, ice cream, etc.). This is a good book when discussing flowers or plants and the necessities that they need to grow big and tall. ( )

fran does whatever she can to get her flower to grow, she feeds it people food, feeds it drinks but eventually learns that a plant needs sun and water to grow, not people food.

There was a new girl at storytime who refused to talk or sing, or do any of the motions with anything UNTIL this story. She then quietly said that flowers need sun and rain, not pizza. SO CUTE! ( )
