( ) Charlie Howard has gone straight. No more burglaries. He is strictly a writer now, working on what he hopes will be his break-through novel. Right. Well, things get complicated when a female cat burglar enters his life and works him like a puppet. Not only does he find himself back in the burglary business, but he may end up an assassin as well. This was a bittersweet read for me. As with all the other stories in this series, I found myself laughing out loud frequently, but I also realized that this is the last book in the series I hadn't read. Please, please, please Mr. Ewan, won't you please write some more of these? They are so fun, and yet I love watching Charlie and Victoria grow together and learn more about themselves and each other. I listened to the audio version of this and as usual Simon Vance's narration was of an excellent standard. I enjoy listening to him and his accents and m/f voices are always spot on. There is no need to read the books in order and there is always a bit of a recap in the book as to what has happened up to date but without the author spoiling previous books for you if you haven't read them. This book opens with Charlie and Victoria in Venice and Charlie has gone straight. Then a twist of fate and a change is on the cards ..... I have read all the books in the series and for me, I'm getting a bit fed up of Victoria. The story works better for me when Victoria is absent. Charlie's situations and internal thoughts are always funnier when he is interacting with others. However, I'm still loving the series and will be sad when I'm completely up to date and waiting for Mr Ewan to write the next installment! summer-2013 Read from August 04 to 08, 2013 The Good Thief's Guide to Venice Fraudio>Rosado>Simon Vance narrates Mystery>series Summer 2013 Fluffy Fun Blurb: Charlie Howard - struggling crime-writer by day, talented thief by night - has gone straight. But holing himself up in a crumbling palazzo in Venice to concentrate on his next novel hasn't got rid of the itch in his fingers. And to make matters worse, a striking Italian beauty has just broken into his apartment and made off with his most prized possession, leaving a puzzling calling card in its place. It looks as though kicking the habit of a lifetime will be much more of a challenge than Charlie thought. Sneaking out into Venice's maze of murky canals, Charlie's attempts to tame a cat burglar embroil him in a plot that is far bigger and more explosive than he could ever have imagined.
