This book all about the brain presents information about the brain to students in more of a story-book style. The book is illustrated, with facts about the brain as they pertain to kids. It includes the parts of the brain, and ways that kids use their brains every day. ( )

Interesting text and illustrations provide information about the human brain, discussing what it is, its different parts, how it grows, and its role in controlling various parts and functions of the body.

This is a fantastic picture book introduction into the science behind your brain -- the parts of the brain, how it functions, etc. Your guide through the book is a pair of talking animals (an owl and a mouse) who have witty banter; I can only imagine children will find them immediately appealing. The text of the book is simple and straightforward, and it never talks down to young readers. It is factual and accurate, making analogies that will connect with children but aren't silly. For instance, the author compares brain function to learning a sport -- you get better at it the more you do it. The author doesn't shy away from using big words like cerebellum, which I love because children will learn what you teach them! The illustrations show a diverse cast of children doing a variety of things (e.g., trying out magic tricks, playing the piano, etc.). I highly recommend, especially for preschool and elementary classroom settings. ( )

I think this book is great and would be beneficial to read early on in the year to guide students to have a growth mindset and learn and appreciate their brains and all that it can do. It encourages students not to give up and explains how making mistakes is one of the best ways our brains learn and grow. The vocabulary is higher cognitively but the easily understood language and pictures help the reader.
