Der er ingen diskussionstråde på Snak om denne bog. not a new story, but still, has some interesting twists. laura park's illustrations make it worth the read. ( ) The only reason I read this book was because of "Battle of the Books" and not wanting to fake it with my middle school kids. And the "Leo" plot turned into something interesting that I did not expect. However, this book was horribly written....Rafe bugged the crap out of me....the blatant disrespect and regard for rules..... I worry about this series' popularity. It does not promote anything of a positive nature. I'm all for kids reading but it would be nice to be something of substance. This is far from that. Yep. Have no desire to read the second book. I also didn't find it relatable to must middle schoolers that I know This book is great book to have on your shelves as a middle grades teacher. I would recommend this book for 6th-7th graders. The book provides students with a relatable view on middle school and some students can relate to the main character in other ways as well. This book follows a boy named Rafe who is starting middle school and figures out that it is the WORST. He deals with being bullied, lack of attention, as well as abuse at home, and the loss of his brother. He comes up with a plan that causes many disturbances at the school and the only person who tries to help him is his teacher who he calls a horrible dragon lady. At the end of the book, his teacher is able to build a small connection with Rafe and realizes that he is best suited for a school that can embrace his talents more. This was an amazing book about a boy named Rafe who enters middle school with a lot on his mind. He has a hard home life and has experienced loss in a hard way. Rafe copes with his struggles by acting out in school and breaking school rules. This leads to him getting into trouble at school and at home. This is a great book to have in the classroom because I believe every student can find a way to relate to Rafe. This chapter book is about Rafe Katchadorian, a rebellious and artistic incoming 6th grader at Hills Village Middle School. He struggles with bullying and disinterest in school, and throughout the book, we see Rafe use his creativity to come up with a game to help him achieve his goal: breaking every rule in the school rulebook. The book covers several relatable issues middle schoolers face, such as siblings, single parents, abuse, loneliness, and bullying. The book does, however, show how much of a difference can be made by the attention and kindness of just one teacher. The most prominent content area in "Middle School, the Worst Years of My Life" is art. Though Rafe attends all of his classes, the author does not write about the content he is learning as much as he focuses on what Rafe is doing (or drawing) instead of engaging with the material. This chapter book can be used to generate creative writing exercises or journal reflections on how students can relate to the book or what they might've done differently from Rafe. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
