The concept behind Carnival of Fear is cool and innovative. A mysterious horror carnival arrives in an upstate New York town. Naturally the high school kids in town feel the need to check it out. Little do they know that all of their worst horrors are there to greet them. The cast of characters are fairly typical. You got your jocks, your stoners, your cheerleaders, your brainy, nerdy types, and then there is JD, the all American, all around good guy, and his girlfriend. Inside of the carnival is a haunted castle containing rooms with all different kinds of horrors, each one a different challenge for our cast. There are werewolves, a Salem type town conducting with trials, zombies, vampires, aliens, and just about any kind of nightmarish monstrous scenario, including a trip to hell in the finale. In order to get out alive, the kids have to enter each of the room and defeat the enemies that await them. The end result is a real page turner where I kept wanting to find out what was going to pop up next, or how JD and company were going to get themselves out of the next situation. JG Faherty is a highly skilled writer and he managed to artfully guide the reader through this carnival of terror. This is a book worth reading.

Like your books a little scary? Fan of all the classic horror stories? You have to read this book! I did not only read this book I devoured it! I honestly finished the book in only a handful of days, forgoing sleep to read just one more chapter! The characters were believable and relatable. The group of teens at the center of the story were from all different social groups making it easy to connect with a character. The situations they found themselves in will appeal to all horror fans. Where else can you run into aliens, werewolves, vampires, and witches (just to name a few) all in one night?
I don’t give spoilers in my reviews, so here is a brief outline of the story. A carnival comes to town on Halloween night and almost everyone is excited. The carnival is not what it seems, and at the center of it is a haunted house whose purpose is to trap the patrons so the evil that runs the carnival can feast on them. The teens (not all of whom are friends) must learn to work together, to live through the night.
There is violence and gore in the story, not that you would expect anything different in a horror story. It is fast paced and gets right into the meat of the story. You will be sucked in! So get the book, grab a blanket, turn on the bed side lamp and be prepared for a great read! ( )

Thanks to the Members Giveaway on LibraryThing I found a thrill ride of horror the likes of which I had not found in awhile. I love all the rooms and demons that these characters encounter on their journey through a Carnival of Fear. ( )

A Halloween carnival comes to Whitebridge and everybody wants to see it. But no one knows that in fact the artificial horror becomes a real nightmare. Exactly at midnight everybody is trapped. The Castle of Horrors offers a gruesome death to everyone who is not fast, strong or smart enogh or simply has bad luck. Depending on which room the visitor enters he can be killed for example by aliens, werewolves, witch hunter or a chain saw killer. The story centers some small groups of students who can escape the room they entered first. But just surviving one room doesn't mean salvation.

Carnival of Fear was really creepy. I even dreamt about this book. But i also liked it. Some of the character's deaths are pretty nasty but the psychologically part is the hardest one. I sympathized with everyone, no matter if i hated or loved the character. The most i loved the many different scenes. I'm not sure if i'll ever set a foot in a chamber of horrors, though. ( )
