Wrapped af Jennifer Bradbury

A Spy in the House af Y. S. Lee (_Zoe_)
_Zoe_: I actually didn't enjoy A Spy in the House nearly as much as Wrapped, but I know others have a high opinion of it, and there are enough similar elements that readers who enjoyed the one should at least be aware of the other.
  2. 10
Crocodile on the Sandbank af Elizabeth Peters (_Zoe_)
_Zoe_: Again, strong-willed 19th-century woman meets Egyptological mystery.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The narration was lovely, the characters interesting, and the plot intriguing. Of course, I'm a sucker for almost anything with a Victorian/Regency setting, and so it was engaging for me right from the start. Fun, fresh, and recommended to YA readers or adults alike. ( )

This story reminded me of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Both lead characters, in this story it's Agnes, are being presented to be wives. But both women carry a bit of a secret. They're not quite sure they're ok with that life being everything for them.

Agnes goes to a party hosted by her intended suitor. The party is an unwrapping. This actually consists of a mummy being unwrapped by the guests.

The shocking thing here? These unwrappings actually happened in real life. I had no idea! Nor did I have any idea that Napoleon was into Egyptology. I love learning something while reading fiction that I never learned in history books.

Agnes is a very impressive, strong young woman and when she finds something interesting at the unwrapping she decides to hide it. This leads to the most exciting events that have ever happened in Agnes' life. ( )
