A heart wrenching kick ass type of book. ( ) My mom bought this for me a few years ago and I finally got around to reading it. I've never read Lisa Gardner before so I don't know what is considered a 'typical' style for her, but I genuinely enjoyed the alternating perspectives of D.D. Warren and Tessa Leoni. It worked for me from a style and narrative perspective. The general theme of the book is parenthood and the lengths a parent would go to if their child was threatened. It works well, playing Tessa's love for her daughter Sophie off of D.D.'s discovery of her own unplanned pregnancy. Tessa blooms as the story goes on, her first person narration doesn't feel tired in comparison to D.D's more stoic third person, and by the end I was eager to read more stories about her. The plot itself laid out nicely, unraveling quickly enough to pull you along but at a satisfying pace. A well-deserved 7.7/10 (rounded up for GR) Amazing again!! Just when you think you know what's happening she twists the plot on you and sends you off in another direction only to yank you back on to another path before dragging you back into your original line but throwing in a bunch of details you missed on your way through!! This one was a wild ride!! ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

Brian Darby lies dead on the kitchen floor. His wife, state police trooper Tessa Leoni, claims to have shot him in self-defense, and bears the bruises to back up her tale. For veteran detective D. D. Warren it should be an open-and-shut case. But where is their six-year-old daughter? As the homicide investigation ratchets into a frantic statewide search for a missing child, D. D. Warren must partner with former lover Bobby Dodge to break the case. No library descriptions found. |
