A dark and gritty western which reminded me slightly of the TV show Hell on Wheels, mostly for the protagonist Wes Cutter who returns to his Missouri town after the civil war(of course he fought for the South). Terrible things happened to Cutter's wife Ruth during the war, and he is back ostensibly to look for her. However she is with him, disguised as a gunslinger. The story jumps around in time quite a bit, and the past frequently overlaps the present even in the same panel. I found the story a bit hard to follow at times, but I certainly got this book's vibe of hate. ( )

Violent, horrible, and disjointed. I found the illustration to be substandard; very difficult to tell the characters apart which I think led to much confusion on my part. Or it could have just been the story; no clear indication in the story of why people were where they were, or did what they did. ( )
