From early prayer meetings in homes, to a tent chapel, to the present sanctuary, faithful University Temple United Methodists have gathered for worship and service, answering God‘s call to share the Good News with the world.
We know how to nurture God’s people for the long-haul even as we fully commit to the intensity of our present moment. U Temple is alive and engaged with the spiritual, political, cultural and economic issues of our time. We actively engage our Biblical spirituality, expansive, generous and liberal, with others who are seeking to assist God in the care of creation. We believe we are forward-looking and focused on God’s great work of redemption.
University Temple is a place where people are touched by God‘s grace. It is here that we grow deep roots in the same faith that Jesus had. It is here that we receive the empowering Spirit of God, the same Spirit Jesus had. And it is here that we learn the great mystery of our holy calling; that we ourselves are the risen Body of Christ, an ongoing pouring forth of God’s activity in the world.
We learn to be the Body of Christ through our care and nurture and mutual aid with and towards each other. We are becoming a community of affection and encouragement, open to diversity and wide open to those who live the life of Holy Boldness. From this strength we leave the sanctuary to create ministry on the streets. We affirm that Christ is always present both inside and outside the church. We are called to follow the vision and values of Jesus — a life of great joy and justice." - Added By
