Ok, so I was looking around, and I found a thread on Scholastic, where ppl were posting poems. I just LOVED them, and wanted to share them with you.

The Victor
Their cheers,
Your tears,
Blood drips from your hands,
Their lies,
Your cries,
You stand where the victor stands.
Was it worth it, worth the death,
Destruction, to your right and left?
Would you have, rather died?
Left someone else to bathe in pride?
Do you need the luxery,
Raid the Capitol's treasury?
A web they span to hide their lies.
A trick of the light in ways.
Jewels on your clothes stained red,
The blood of the childrens drained lives.
You must gt up in the morning,
Their haunting faces in your eyes.
You are the victor but you haven't won.

Frantic feet
Pound the dry earth
Racing
From the hunter, fast pursuing
To be caught is to die
To endure pain
And the shame of knowing
That you have lost
Their twisted Games

My name is known through all the Districts,
I'm the face of all the games.
After all, I'm Ceaser Flickman,
my fortune is in fame.
But every year I know there's something,
something I can't explain,
and every year, my salary never covers
all my heartache and pain.
How can I stand upon that stage,
knowing that the children will die?
The guilt never passes, the pain never laeves,
the days go by and by....

the adrenaline
the fury within
the will 2 suvive
to stay alive
the blood
the violence
the mud
waiting 4 victory to arrive
the death
the end
someones last breath
the glory
the money
THE GUILT

Punishment-

Just let us go,

We weren't even there,

On the days of smoke and fiery flare.

You act as if,

We're the ones,

The Criminals,

That were outgunned

The draws are takers of destiny,

Taken from the twenty-three

I can't stand the misery,

In fear that one of them is me.

Now i sit and stand in fear.

since maybe after the reaping I'l be sent

To face our parents punishment......

From the ages of twelve to eighteen,
Futures awaiting us,
Yet twenty-three will die,
Our family, friends, lovers,
All will loose someone special,
And for what?
Authority?
We don't care about the Capitol's horrible Games,
We just want to surivive,
And get home,
We don't want to kill,
We don't want to die,
What must we do?
Do we actually want to be accused of legal murder?
Do we want to look into the eyes of all those who's loved ones we killed?
What about all those we miss?
How will their lives be after this?
To the Capitol, it's just a sporting on TV,
But to us, it's something more,
Something horrible,
Terrible,
It's killing all of our family,
It's killing everone we love,
It's killing our friends,
And can we do something about it?
Maybe.
Can we stop the Games?
Maybe.
But right now, we need to make a decision,
Do we kill or die?

As the carriage travels through town,
All that can be heard is the crowd's cheering
There's not a single frown,
Why, how can they be excited
When twenty-three children are headed towards death
Thier dreams have been smashed
And their families shattered,
I just don't understand
How humans can be so cruel,
Children killing children
for the crowd's enjoyment
Is a very twisted sport.

Hungry, feel the hunger,
Hunting, see the hunter,
Starving, feel them dying,
Slicing, see the killer.
If one of us falls we all do.

Running, feel the chased,
Running, see the chaser,
Slowing, feel the pain,
Stabbing, see the killer.
If one of us falls we all do.

Stopping, feel defiance,
Ending, see the sword drop.
Refusing, feel the anger,
Saying no.
If one of us falls we all do.

If everyone was to refuse,
Everyone to say no.
Knock on affect,
No sense of control.
If one of us falls we all do.

The Hunger Games,
They curse their names
The fallen ones,
Daughters and sons.

We sigh.
Into the void,
We are annoyed
That they have to die.

The Hunger games
They curse their names
And why?
What have they done?

Yes I have won
But what really does that mean?
I am alive, not dead
But my life was better before
Yes I have a good house
Fame, food, money
And pain
The pain isn't visible
But it is there
The nightmares that haunt
Every single night
The knowqlage that I took
A human, no a child's life
The ones that really won
Are sleeping in their graves
Where pain can not find them
People say I won
But I really lost
Lost so so bad
The Hunger Games
Where nobody comes out unharmed
I won but yet I lost

Why did you not help

And stay hidden, alone?

Why do I go now

To make yours my home?

While we sat there and starved

Until we were bombed and burned.

While you sat there and watched

And then we finally turned.

Into rebels of the cause

That our ancestors once sought

Against their “great might”

That they also once fought.

Why do I go now?

When all along,

You could have saved us

From all of the wrong?

The killing of children

The shed of innocent blood

The killings that harmed

The ones that we loved

So why do I go now

To your District 13?

While ones that I love

Might never again be seen?

But now I am a part

Of another groups Game

I didn't know I was a piece

But this isn't the same

I trusted them and they led me astray

But I know better now

That I HAVE to play

I will fight harder than before

As I push and I shove

This time not for me

But for the ones that I love

That's the reason I'll play

Not for those who tell me to

Because why would I want to do something

For the reasons given by you

When my people are hurting

Being shot at, and hit

And you didn't come to save us

Until the fire was lit.

This is supposed to be Katniss's point of view about District 13

How can they haunt you
Even when you're "safe"?
How can you still hear their screams
When they died;
But you lived
And now
There's no life to live
When you can still remember
The faces
The names
The lives
The futures
That you killed
Are you safe now?

I say thanks to you for giving your life,
I say thanks to the blood on the end of my knife.
I say thanks to you for the price you've paid,
I say thanks to the ground where your body is laid.

I cry to the sky for the sickness inside,
I cry to the sky for the pain to reside.
I cry to the sky for the tears on my face,
I cry to the sky for the heart not replaced.

I say goodbye to the childhood days,
I say goodbye to the childish ways.
I say goodbye to the innocent life.
I say goodbye to my world...

I blow up food with great pride
Then, I hear a little girl with cry with pain
I know it can only be my friend, Rue
I race after her, bow and arrow in hand
When I get there, it's too late
She is captured, a spear in her body
I can't take it, so I kill the killer
I look at Rue, slowly dying, then do one last thing
Sing
So many tears shed as a lost one of my best friends
But you don't know what its like
Hopefuly, with luck, you will never know

Thanks. I thought of that as I wrote. I said, "Hmm, I should write a poem about Rue's death.'" and I made it up as I went

I once did a book project in my English class. For the project, I chose to write a poem based on the very first Hunger Games entry. Here it is:

I Am Katniss Everdeen

I am a competent and struggling hunter.

I wonder if I will die in the Hunger Games or in District 12.

I hear the song of a mockingjay.

I see the Career tributes trying to corner me.

I want to show the Capitol that they cannot own us.

I am a competent and struggling hunter.

I pretend not to give in to my wounds.

I feel danger on all sides.

I touch a bow and quiver of arrows.

I worry about my sister Prim’s well-being.

I cry when my ally Rue dies.

I am a competent and struggling hunter.

I understand why the Capitol treats us harshly.

I say "I must do whatever I can to stay alive!"

I dream of pleasant times with my family.

I try to avenge Rue’s death and put the Gamemakers to shame.

I hope to be unforgettable.

I am a competent and struggling hunter.

sing to some nights

Some nights I stay up trying not to die
Some night I think i can't go on
Some night I wish I could kill President Snow
Some nights I wish he'd just die

But I still Wake up, and I still Fight on
Oh Lord, I'm still not sure if I love Peeta
Do I love him? Do I hate him?
Most nights, I don't know anymore
Oh whoa, oh whoa, oh whoa oh oh
Oh whoa, oh whoa, oh whoa oh oh

This is it boy, this is games, What are we waiting for?
Why don't we just follow the rules already?
I was never one to let them own me
Save that for the ones and twos
but I try twice as hard and win half as much.
But here they come again, to kill my friends

This is all wrong. I found a parachute in my bed tonight
Keeps my bones wondering just do I love, do I love, do I love him
Oh do I love him. mm mm

Well some nights, I wish that this all would end
'Cause I could use some luck for a change
And some nights, I'm scared you'll die on me again
Some nights, I always win, I always win

But I still wake up, and I still fight on
Oh Lord, I'm still not sure if I love Peeta
Oh do I love him? Oh Do I love him. Most nights, I don't know (come on)

So this is it? I volunteered for this?
I saved my sister from this?
I miss my mom and dad for this?
No. When I see stars, when I see stars, that's all they are
When I hear songs, they sound like a mockingjay, so come on
Oh, come on, oh, come on, oh come on!

Well that is it, guys, that is all, five minutes in and I'm protecting again
Two weeks, I'm not sure if anybody understands
This is not one for the folks at home, I'm sorry to leave, mom, I had to go
Who wants to die alone in a pine forest?
My heart is breaking for my sister and the life she almost lost
But when I look into Peeta's eyes,
Man you wouldn't believe, the most amazing things, that can come from,
Some terrible repeanings, ah (oh whoa, oh whoa, oh whoa, oh oh)

Oh whoa, oh whoa, oh whoa, oh oh
Oh whoa, oh whoa, oh whoa, oh oh

The other night, you wouldn't believe the nightmare I just had about Cato and me
I told you, and we both agree
It's for the best you kiss me
It's for the best we close our distance, oh
It's for the best you kiss me
It's for the best we close our distance, oh

I was just a boy
Son of a baker
Boy with the bred
Whatever
She was a hunter
She traded at the hob
He was a trapper
He sold all his meat
Perfect
The games took both of us
But doesn't it take everyone?
We loved each other
But it was just an act, at least for her
It was still perfect

They flock away
the sky turns grey
death is imminent;
they hunt and wait.

Cannons go off
they die one by one
only one remains
when the game is done.

the mockingjay is freedom
she defies what is wrong
her wings show strength
her heart sings a song

revolution’s in the air
poison gas is too
lightning from an arrow
sends the districts loose

hope travels through them
fear also resides
they need a hero when
there’s no where left to hide

Save us Katniss!
take us away from here
the capital is prison
Is the end near?

Defeated the Hunger Games, bow alone
By her rebellion, the capitol fell
Around and around the districts, she roamed
When with Peeta, she comes out of her shell
Peeta, her husband, who's love saved her life
Was the only friend who stood by her side
Most of the others were killed with a knife
That's what happens on the Hunger Games ride
The ride she chose when she saved her sister
Which she continued in District Thirteen
Learned from Haymitch, her official 'Mister'
But mentally survived on and off screen
Katniss Everdeen is the girl on fire
The one that conquered everything needed
Everyone who has heard of her admires
But no one understands how much she pleaded
These three books teach the importance of hope
And the importance of learning to cope

Sonnet, all lines are 10 syllables
