maj 28, 2010, 2:58 pm

Me too! whats your favorite part?

maj 31, 2010, 9:31 pm

I really loved Shiver ! I think my favorite part was ending. It set things up perfectly for Linger. I also enjoyed their trip to the candy store- so sweet :)

maj 31, 2010, 9:35 pm

My favorite book from last year. I think I read it 3 times in a row.

Eagerly awaiting Linger's release...

maj 31, 2010, 9:57 pm

I loved the ending too!
When does Linger come out?

mar 25, 2011, 5:41 pm

i read shiver and linger and loved them both

apr 26, 2011, 5:28 pm

My daughters and their friends love this book. It's on my 'to-read' list.

apr 28, 2011, 9:13 pm

I read Shiver and Linger and I really enjoyed them both! Linger kinda leaves you on a cliffhanger, which I won't talk about since I don't want to ruin it for anyone! But I almost wanted to cry because it's like right when everything was perfect it just did a complete 180! I can't wait for Forever to come out on July 12, 2011!

apr 28, 2011, 9:15 pm

Sorry the Forever it brought up was by Judy Blume, but the one that is to be released is by the same author! And I really like the cover.

If the touchstone doesn't match, click on (others) and see if the right one is on the drop down list. Then click on the one you want.

Forever by Maggie Stiefvater isn't on the list because it hasn't been released yet.

I read Shiver and Linger. I enjoyed them both. This is a series where I liked Linger even more than Shiver and I have Forever on pre-order at Amazon LOL.

jun 23, 2011, 3:36 am

Yep I read it a while back. I remember I cried during a lot of it, sound about right? Idk, I read a lot, so maybe I have my books mixed up (or maybe I'm just a cry baby).

Actually I think I listened to it, and I wasn't crazy about the narrator. Yeah, it was a guy who couldn't do a female voice or any other accents for that matter....too bad.

I wanted to read it. It sounds really according to you guys

okt 9, 2011, 11:48 am

i wanted to read it, but I could never find it on the kindle store. is it available as an ebook?

okt 9, 2011, 7:09 pm

not sure. i would look on amazon though.

okt 11, 2011, 4:20 pm

It's available as a Kindle book on Amazon -- I just checked.

okt 12, 2011, 4:09 pm

My daughter keeps bugging me to read it. She loved the first book, but then she said the next two in the series weren't as good.

I have to say to me, I couldn't get into Shiver. The characters fell flat and were unrealistic to me. I have to say, the girl was just too aggressive and the situation, "We could die tomorrow so let's do this!" Has been done so many times that I just wasn't convinced. It was in a series. Why would I believe that the author would kill off one of the main characters? Yeah, it's not going to happen.

I was really excited to read this book, but when I picked it up, the book just wasn't for me. If you want to read the in depth reasons why I couldn't get into it, here it is: http://teacherwritebookaholicohmy.blogspot.com/2011/07/shiver-burn-and-crumble-w...

And apparently, I'm not the only reader who thought Shiver was a complete disappointment.

I just read Shiver and didn't love it either. I did think it was better than Twilight in that you got narratives from both protagonists, and Grace was a stronger, more independent person than Bella, but still the whole "this romance is more important than anything else in the world" thing annoys me*. And plus, how convenient that her parents were out all the time so no conflict there (although I gather there is some in the next book). I have Linger because I found it at a charity shop for £1, so I will read it as I gather some things change and twist in that one. But Shiver felt really conventional and predictable to me.

*Although I know that is quite a realistic attitude in teens so . . .

Saker, I'd be interested in knowing what you think of Linger once you get to it. I've read the entire series, but certainly wouldn't call myself a fan. I had too many issues with Grace and Sam (and Grace's parents) that by the end of the first book, the two protagonists truly shat me.

The inclusion of two new character voices in Linger reenergised the series for me. Overall, Linger was still quite lackluster, but the breaks away from Sam or Grace's POVs were definitely welcome.

nov 6, 2011, 1:31 am

#23> shat you? Not sure that has the same meaning here, lol.

I enjoyed Shiver more than Twilight also, and found the writing fluid enough that I could lose myself in it, even if it was predictable and fairly static. Solid teen romance, if not great paranormal literature.

#24. Lol. Perhaps it's an Aussie terminology. Past tense of a particular four letter word.

nov 6, 2011, 8:42 pm

No, then it's the same. I've never heard it used like that though! :D

>23 strandedon8jo:: I read Linger this weekend, and really enjoyed it. It's a million times better than Shiver; adding Isabel and Cole's perspectives meant we got a break from emo-Sam and Grace, and it broadened the scope of the story which it really needed. Grace's parents made me want to yell at them - such hypocrites! I was cheering for Grace when she stood up to them and called them out for ignoring her her whole life, and wanted to deck her father when he blew her off without having listened to her at all. Nothing in Shiver gave me such emotional involvement. I will read Forever now (although I'm getting it from the library; even given how much I enjoyed Linger I don't think this series will be a keeper for me).

Sakerfalcon, I agree Linger was certainly a superior book to Shiver but as I didn't exactly rate Shiver, that's not me necessarily singing Linger's praise. As for Forever, I found the first half slow going but as the conclusion crept closer, my interest increased. Again, it was Cole's and Isabel's voices that I looked forward to most. It's worth noting that Sam and Grace annoyed me less the third time round.

when i started reading shiver i was pleasantly surprised i couldnt help but get caught up in sam and grace it had me in tears when grace thought he was dead and then again when he appeared alive and well, i couldnt put it down till i finished it. was good read and linger was just as good lots of tears, forever was abit annoying the whole sam and grace bit was boring and got on my nerves, but cole and isabel were the main focus and i enjoyed it. overall id say worth a read, in fact my daughter saw how much i liked reading them that she gave them ago and is now a book nerd like her mum. ive spent ages trying to get her to read books so am grateful to this series for being so much joy to read.
