I'd like to print out my catalogue without the footer paragraph that starts with "This report was generated..." and ends with "...Dewey, LCC and subjects)." It's on every page and takes up way too much room.

I have a printout that I did about 9 months ago without this footer but I can't remember how I managed that. I use Firefox.

Any suggestions?

After some tweaking, I think I have a way to get a printable catalog.

I'm using Firefox 3.5 on Linux. The first problem was that my headings were getting cut off. The other issue is the footers taking up too much room on the page.

The easiest way I can see to get around these problems is to save the printable page and then edit the html file. After some trial and error, I found that deleting the topBarGrad div () allowed my headers to not get cut off.

Also, I remove the entire tfoot section to remove the table footers:

This report was generated by LibraryThing.com using the following catalog URL:
http://www.librarything.com/catalog/litchfieldchurch* Green text is "calculated" text. Calculated text is provided when your own
data are absent, and is either based on other columns in your catalog (eg., the "summary" field) or from books
in other members' libraries (eg., Dewey, LCC and subjects).

I can then load this into Firefox and print. Using the options tab of the print dialog I can adjust the text printed in the header and footer of the page. I've removed the page URL here since it is just something like catalog_bottom.php. In the same print dialog, there is a page setup tab, and when I want to fit more titles on the page, I change the scale from 100% to 50%.

Thank you for the reply.

I ended up doing it in Excel which wasn't entirely satisfactory as there is no column for "Collection" which would have been useful for my purposes, but it certainly took up fewer pages than if I had done it directly from LT.

I'll experiment with your method the next time I do a printout.

>4 Libby1119: This is a very old thread (from 2010). Are you having trouble printing your catalog or exporting your books? We've definitely updated some of those features in the intervening time.

I would like to be able to print my library without the "* Green text is "calculated" text. Calculated text is provided when your own data are absent, and is either based on other columns in your catalog (eg., the "summary" field) or from books in other members' libraries (eg., Dewey, LCC and subjects)." I still don't see any way to do that.

We print three copies of our library, sorted by author, tag and title. Exporting to Excel and then cleaning up the resulting file works well for the first two versions. However, sorting the titles properly (ignoring leading articles) in Excel would require a lot of fiddling.

Is there a better way to do this? Is there some way to turn the green note off that I've missed? By the way, the green text it refers to does not show up anywhere in the body of the list.

Thanks

A lot of fiddling? No, a little bit of fiddling, I think:

You could create a new column in excel with the articles chopped of? I don't recall the exact syntax, but something similar to =MID(B1, C1, 80) should work assuming the title is in the B-column and the sort-character is in the C-column. Use fill-down to copy this for every row and sort by the new column.
