It's called Aussie Swap. And it was created by a local Melburnian. It's an awesome site... I just came across it the other day. It allows Aussies to put up a list of books, DVDs, CDs, and Video Games they have available for swap. People then request your items and you send it to them and get points. You can then use those points to request any item you want, whether it be a book, CD, DVD or Video Game. You can use the site just for swapping books, but it is great to have the option to swap for other things, as well. It's nice that someone here in Australia has created a site much like the US sites we all want and it's finally here, so we can start swapping our items with other Aussies. The site is www.aussieswap.com.au. Support Aussie Made and go to Aussie Swap. I personally would rather support a local Aussie site than a US site.

You do realise they charge one dollar transaction fee for each item you receive?
From the site:
It is a dollar per swap! We don't charge anything when you swap an item out. For every item you receive as a swap on Aussie Swap, there's a $1 transaction fee. Hence, the $1 per swap. We can't actually charge you for just $1, though, each time you request an item because the credit card service fees are too high. Instead, we sell Credits. One credit is equivalent to $1. We sell credits in packs of 10 for $10, 30 for $27, and 50 for $40. You can also get credits free when you refer a friend to Aussie Swap and they register. Credits never expire, so you can use them to get an item whenever you want.

I'll stick with BookMooch. I've swapped with people from all over the world via them, and all it costs is the postage, whch admittedly is sometimes considerable

Um, I've just noticed that amylouise53 has no titles listed in its library and no information on its profile. Could it be a membership created for the purpose of publicising the aussieswap site?

Spot on...IMHO
As Tim said in the Goodreads discussion: "People who pay for this sort of thing are saps." Which is why I added my message...
Another devious spam troll but I don't know how you prove that! And... it is book information so not sure if it is against the TOS *sigh*

I personally would rather support a local Aussie site than a US site gives it away a bit, as BookMooch is international and Aussies CAN'T belong to a US site! And negative comments like these are more likely to come from someone directly trying to sell a site.
