It's pretty dead in here, so I thought I'd try and get some opinions on good area bookstores. Things outside of the B&N or Borders type venues.

My personal favorite is the Half Price Bookstore. I've been able to get tons of books there at a fraction of their normal cost. It's hit or miss sometimes tho, you just have to keep going back.

There's a used bookstore in Lewisville called Paperback Traders. It's local and you can find books that Half Price doesn't have.

Has anyone gone to the bookstore over at Skillman and Live Oak? Unfortunately everytime I'm over there it's after hours. I didn't know what their variety was like, or their prices. Sorry I can't remember their name, but it's just around the corner from The Tipp.

The one at Skillman and Live Oak, Paperbacks Plus, is much larger than it looks from the outside. There are numerous rooms with floor-to-ceiling shelves groaning with books. The whole place smells of paper and ink. It's quite wonderful. Prices are the standard half-of-cover for most things, and they'll give store credit for books that you bring in. I think they're open from 9 am-9 pm, except on Sundays when it's 11-7.
