I don't seem to be able to edit (or delete) the subject headings in a record I've copied - so I'd like to recommend that this function be introduced. For example, I've got an edition of Bleak House by Dickens that has about 15 subject headings. I don't want any of them - fiction is notoriously diffficulet ot assign subject headings to,m and I'd rather not get into it, or have them in my catalog.

Thanks. At present, you're not able or allowed to. If you get the data from a library, you get your own blue subject headings. The longer lists usually come when you use Amazon. In that case, it picks up the subjects from other copies—in green.
When I've raised the prospect of LCSH editing, I have to say that feelings were not positive. But, I think, if there were no global effects—you edits don't go beyond you—sticklers might be mollified.

I have to agree. Even if you initially get the LC subjects, they can be wrong, inconsistent, or missing. Tags become problematic because there is no way to escape a comma to allow it to be used inside a tag.
