Fiction

A teen goes with her father and brother to a protected facility for the weekend. Some sort of global disaster happens and the teen learns to live, lead and thrive in the new world. Second part of the book was this teen great-great (or more) granddaughter who is a teacher with her tribe/group, who struggles with her ancestor's legacy.

I read it about 20-25 years ago (I think?)

It was a YA book for early teens

I don't remember anything about the author or cover or anything, Sorry!
Hope you can help, I've been looking for this book for years.

No, this is a Jean Karl book. I think it is called Strange Tomorrow. I've read it a couple of times, and I love it.

MerryMary — Thank you Thank you Thank you! I looked it up on Amazon and that is exactly the book I was thinking of ... I ordered it on paperbackswap.com so that I could read it again.

WoodsieGirl, thanks so much for giving me hope that someone was at least thinking about my query ... that book does sound a little like it. Thanks!

Well worth hunting down. The two short stories are gems.
