Twilight Haters

I didnt even know this existed...

theres a club on librarything called Twilight Haters who discuss how crazy and stupid everyone who loves Twilight is. Their picture is a badge saying thanks to Twilight fans because they make Harry Potter fans seem a lot less crazy.

I dont know about you, but i say we DECLARE WAR!!!!

Love both so who do I declare war against? Hmm ... a perplexing dilemma.

How dare they make such a group!!! Im kinda anti war though. But they suck really hard!

I saw this Twilight hate myspace page .. they said, "Twilighters waste their time dreaming about Edward." Well ... they just wasted time making a stupid anti-Twilight page.
And I absolutely HATE it how they try to say Edward is a pedo b/c he's 108 and Bella's 18. And how Stephenie Meyer promotes unhealthy relationships. It irks me off. She doesn't say, "Go out and fall in love with a vampire and must sure he becomes your life." It's a work of FICITON, for crying out loud!

I know right what is up with that???

And people who say that they hate how teenage girls need to get out of their fantasy obsession. They are just jealous because Twilight is so popular so they cant like it because they are against anything that doesn't make them all cool and different.

Some have said it's bad writing too, but how can it be with that many followers, plus followers transcending generations. There's a thread on Amazon.com that's for Twilight adult fans with the youngest in her 20's and the oldest (when I last read it about a month ago) at 63 although I think I may have seen someone 68 responding as well. When you consider the fact that a seven-year-old child asked Rob to bite her, that's quite a difference ... seven to 68. How can a writer be bad when they've sold millions and sales are still going strong to the point that so many are in a frenzy.

Edward's eternally frozen at 17 so is only 108 in a sense. Isn't it said somewhere in the books that he's never had a girlfriend before Bella? He's certainly never shown any interest in females since becoming a vampire so there's nothing to base the pedo statement on.

If Twilighters are wasting their time dreaming about Edward, does that mean everyone who dreams of a hero in a romance novel, or of becoming a wizard like Harry Potter, or of a fairytale character should get a life too? Should we just burn all fantasy, sci-fi, fairytale and romance novels? Why is it that people who don't like these stories are thought to have a life whereas people who do are not? Imagine if all the books we read were based on real life experiences. Wouldn't that get old really quickly? The great thing about reading is you have such a variety to choose from and can choose to either read a true-to-life book or escape into another world if you wish. It beats worrying eternally over paying the bills and all the sad things you hear in the news. We need an escape from all that from time to time. Otherwise, we'd end up wasting our time creating websites just to gripe at people.

We're not hurting them, we're not going out and forcing them to read Twilight, maybe some girls are a but over-the-top but some HP fans are too.
I'm a HUGE fan of both series but I have to say that the HP fans are so nasty. It's sad. And pathetic.

I wonder how many have read Twilight. What amazes me is when people go on about a book being bad yet haven't actually attempted to read it. The only comments worth reading are ones by those who have made an effort to try to enjoy it.

On Yahoo answers, HP fans are constantly posting questions like, "Who wants to start on the Twi-Tards with me?" or "Edward Cullen is so Hot!" and then in the question they rant on about how unappealing he is. I haven't seen any TwiHards do this. Only HP fans. Plus, everytime someone asks a question like, "What did Edward mean by blah" HP fans go;
"Get a life and stop thinking about what Edward said."
It's really insulting.

What I don't get is when people say it's lousy when they have made zero effort to read it, or have only read a tiny part of it, i.e. the first page. Yep, that's just the world, I guess. I haven't seen really any TwiHards being insulting, other then saying, "I love Twilight" or "Edward is my man" blah, blah, blah. But the Twilight-Haters are just plain disgusting sometimes.

Sounds more like jealousy really ... that fans have gravitated from Harry Potter to Twilight (inevitable since the series ended and book lovers are looking for other books to interest them). I mean why would it bother you if someone liked another series? The whole part of reading is to find a lot of books you like. If you only like one, then come to the end of the book or series, what next? You stop reading?

Well both series have sparked crazes among fans and it's almost as if they're bothered that the Twilight craze is stealing Harry Potter's limelight; as if by doing so, the craze for Harry Potter will die down. It could partly be due to the fact that the sixth movie got pushed to this summer and Twilight got pushed into Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince's original slot. The Twilight craze escalated all the more then whereas the sixth Harry Potter movie has had to take a back seat.

Yeah, I always thought they were angry at TwiHards b/c of Twilight sliding into HP's slot. It was completely unintentional. If they have to blame anyone, it's HP, I mean, they drew the movie back b/c it wasn't finished or something like that.

Said top WB honcho Alan Horn in a press release: "Our reasons for shifting Half-Blood Prince to summer are twofold: We know the summer season is an ideal window for a family tent-pole release. Additionally, like every other studio, we are still feeling the repercussions of the writers' strike, which impacted the readiness of scripts for other films, changing the competitive landscape for 2009 and offering new windows of opportunity that we wanted to take advantage of Half-Blood Prince perfectly fills the gap for a major tent-pole release for mid-summer."

There are two ways of reading that. One is that WB won't have anything else PG-13 and family-friendly ready for mid-summer, so Half-Blood Prince has been called in to save the day. The other is that WB is well aware that the other studios' summer plans were (messed) up by the strike, so they've moved Harry Potter into position to take full advantage of that weakness. Both are probably at least partially true, and it's a pretty savvy move in either case.

WB confirmed that this change will not affect the shooting of the two films intended to end the series, for which shooting begins in February.

:) I hope Twilight doesn't turn out like HP how it started at PG and now's M. But in Australia, Twilight is already rated M. I think Eclipse and Breaking Dawn (definitely the last) will be rated MA 15 if BD is MA 15 then I'll be 16, luckily :)

MA 15+ means you MUST be over 15 to watch that movie at a cinema. It doesn't even matter if your parents are there. You have to be over 15. An R rating means you MUST be over 18 to watch that movie in a cinema, or borrow it from the library/rental shop etc.. I think R is the highest rating.

I don't really think that HP is dying down and Twilight is taking its place. I mean Twilight is huge and all I just don't think it will ever get quite as huge as HP. Don't get me wrong I adore Twilight and I think it is soo amazong, but HP has more books so it kind of had more time to get the fans. I hate it when either sides of fandom get mad at eachother for liking the other book. I love both HP and Twilight both sooooo much. I can't choose between the two. Also I think that a lot of people who like Twilight like HP.

It was reading the Harry Potter books that got me back into reading children's fiction when Harry Potter was just taking on in the States. Only got into YA fiction last year and it was the Twilight series that started me reading that too.

I don't see Harry Potter dying down ever. Look how Lord of the Rings has lasted and that was written in the 1930's. Considering the craze surrounding Twilight, it's possible that it too will last for generations, but it's not as big as the Harry Potter craze by far despite having fans spanning generations since, unlike Harry Potter, it mainly appeals to females.

I saw the New Moon Trailer it looks scary and good and intense.

No worries. Know what you mean by some of them. They're so muddled, bouncing around to part of the story, then on to something that makes no sense in that movie, then onto something that's before a part that was just shown. Makes you dizzy trying to figure out what's happening. One of these days I'll have to learn how to use MovieMaker (free to download on Microsoft's site) so I can make one myself.

I think Kristin Stuart was doing the depressed thing great, but she was over doing it SOOOO much! She looked sort-of either confused or sad or kinda like bored or something wile she was in a pretty meadow all alone laying next to the most beutifly wornderful person in the world, for crying out loud?!?!?!

I guess I'd be a little confused if I was with Edward too! I think she acted best when James' venom was in her. It looked so real and totured. The acting was great!

In the studio when Edward entered and Kristen put her hand up to her mouth, that part didn't look realistic to me. I thought the rest of her acting was in line with Bella as she is in the book though. Agree with Nicky on the venom part too though I have many fave Bella moments.

yeah, the venom part was good. I should read Twilight again because I don't remember Bella that out of it all the time... *epiphany taking place* or maybe, thats how kristen acts out being DAZZLED!!! EUREKA!!! lol, I bet everyone has allready figuered that out. lol

Lol, once when i was riding my bike to the park and then this kid named Jacob (aka: Yacuuve as we named him) decided to throw a tennis ball at one of the chains on my bike, long story short: the bike halted ( due to the tennis ball wegded into the gears (( good aim)) ) and skidded into bush ( thorny bush ). ugh *grimaces* :(

OWWW!! To all of your stories. When I was little, I was running up my
driveway with ballet tights on and tripped and fell and was gushing blood. My Nana and Mommy had to rip the tights off my legs and it hurt really bad because the blood dried and stuck to the tights and my legs.

OMG I have sooooo many embarassing moments I don't know where I would begin. Here are some top ones:

~ I tripped over the prayer table at my primary school and landed flat on my face in front of the whole class
~ I called a stranger Mum at the supermarket
~When I was about 3 I was in a car parts shop with Mum and Dad and this HUUUGE lady walked down the aisle and I screamed out for the whole shop to hear, "BIG FAT LADY!!" and pointed to her. My poor parents. :)

I used to only read adult fiction, but my nephew, sister and friend who's around 12 years older than me all kept egging me onto Harry Potter. So I finally gave in and was hooked. Once I'd read the whole series, I started looking for similar books, not expecting to find anything anywhere nearly as good, and found so many good stories that I kept reading more and more children's books. Once I'd read lots of fantasy, I branched out to read different types, all for children.

When I was your age, there weren't any books that got children reading the way Harry Potter did. I loved Enid Blyton's Wishing Chair and Faraway Tree stories then, and her books with pixies and brownies. Couldn't get them in Hong Kong though so was limited to buying them with pocket money on trips to England and I got three-fifths of what all my friend's got in pocket money, which didn't stretch very far. Books in England have always been expensive. They're double what they are here.

Books I read in Hong Kong were from the local library mainly and in those days, they didn't get constant replenishments of new releases like you do in libraries today. I remember struggling through The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Some may argue that The Chronicles of Narnia are amazing, but I just never got into them. I own the whole series (stuck in a box in my parent's house in England) and have reread two, but they don't fire me up the way books like the Harry Potter and Twilight series do, and isn't that what it's all about - being fired up by books to the point that you're besotted with reading in general? Books are the best exercise for your mind. They make you think, improve your spelling and vocabulary, and can be great fun.

Nothing then came close to the world J. K. Rowling created, or authors like Eoin Colfer with his high-tech fairy series Artemis Fowl. A lot of books seemed too serious rather than rambunctious good fun so I kind of feel like I'm getting the opportunity late in life of discovering what I wanted to read as a child.

Last year, a lot of tweens and teens on another site I go on kept egging me on about reading Twilight and I kept saying "But I'm not keen on vampires." They told me they weren't like that. After about the 25th person I finally gave in and was hooked from the first page. So now I'm working my way through teen fiction.

Am dismayed by it in bookstores though. The teen section seems overridden by girly-type books. Where are all the good books for boys? I don't think foul language belong in books for teens (or children) either. It saddens me because it shows a breakdown in society when it's added to books for children/teens.

Have heard many say that some of the vampire stories and books like the Clique series are too raunchy sex-wise too, but I've not gotten to any of those yet. The vampire series I'm most eager to read is probably the Vampirates series due to the combination of pirates and vampires, which will probably really get the blood pumping (pun intended).

To that person (don't remember) who said that all Twilight fans are clumsy (I think?), I'm not :) I'm pretty UN-clumsy. But I do tend to knock things over quite a bit.

I agree, there are no good books for boys accept for something like " captain underpants" which isn't anything but dumb, smalltown talk with a few cheesy jokes, i think that ( atleast some ) boys deserve better.

I read "the chronicals of Narnia" ( vaguely ) but the parts i did read were not that interesting. I have not gotten around to reading "harry potter", for I have been very busy with Twilight ( read it 3 & a half times and proud), but with the reviews it has been getting, I can't put it of much longer.

Right now I am stating "Romeo and Juliet" after just finishing " Wuthering Heights" ( it's not a coincidence that both of these books/plays were spoken about in Twilight) (lol). The Romeo and Juliet I am reading right now is written as a play, frankly, i don't know what to expect. Has anyone here read a book that was written as a play?

Have read a few plays by William Shakespeare in school, including Romeo and Juliet. My favorite was Twelfth Night. Struggled with them in school, but have A Midsummer Night's Dream out of the library so will be tackling that soon. What did you think of Wuthering Heights? Have seen different movie versions, but haven't read it yet.

I just stumbled over your little group here and read some of your posts. (please excuse my english..its not my native language)
I'm not a Twilight fan. I am, what you might call, an Anti. I don't like it and i have my reasons but don't worry, I didn't decide to post something to flame you or provoke you (thats just not my thing ^^)
My motive for posting something was, to just let you know that i think, that most of the Anti's and Twilight Haters, don't hate you sane twilight fans. There have been some pretty nasty encounters with Fangirls, that decided that simply saying " No, i dont like Twilight." is a reason, to threaten them, key their trucks, break bones , harrass them or beat them up.
Of course there are always some mindless antis that are just beeing jerks by provoking fans just for the sake of fighting.

Now i've read through some of the post and have to wonder why there are always the same two arguments that Twitard(the crazy obsessive fans) and normal Twilight fans come up with, whenever they wonder why someone doesn't like Twilight or feels the need for a club/groub/Forum to discuss their dislike.
Its always:
1) They are just jealous of Bella/Edward/Stephenie Meyer/Twilights sucess
2) They probably haven't even read the books (and if they did, they don't know what true love is mostly used by really obsessed Twitards)

to 1) All the antis i know arent jealous of anyone in the Twilight books. Some might think it doesn't deserve the attention because its poorly written but thats, again, just their Opinion.^^
I've been called Jealous of Bella because i simply said that i didn't think they fell in Love, but in Lust. I've been called more than just jealous. Fans called me a Bitch, a Lezbo (just for stating i didnt like edward ...come on -_-), said i should just crawl somewhere and die and other "nice" things.

to 2) Actually .... all the anti's have read the books. Some even were fans before they "fell out of love" with Twilight.
I had borrowed the 1stbook from a friend and read through it but it simply wasn't my thing.I didn't like the writing and the plotholes that i couldn't ignore. Then i got the Audio books from someone else so i could finish the series because..well..i like to know what im hateing on ^_~ (besides..that way i also have material to back me up when i'm in a discussion)

That was constructive critisism. I don't mind your opinions honestly. You have read all of the books and didn't like them, but the girls that were arguing with us, like you said, were just coming in here to fight. Also, they haven't read the books so they don't have an opinion yet. I cannot take anyone seriously that bashed on something someone like just because a lot of people like it.
I also love the HP books I have re-read them just as many times as I have read the Twilight Series and I do not have a favorite.
Also, the only reason the Twilight movie took HP's spot is because the HP people wanted a summer release so they could make more money. It is not about which movie is more well liked. I respect your opinions.

We did not suggest "war" with the Twihaters. They were talking about forming some kind of alliance and "doing something" to the people that love Twilight. I do not love Twilight just because everyone else does, but because I think it is a great book and I think Stephenie Meyer is a great writer. Antis are allowed to make their own groups for all I care, but they should not come into a group of Twilight lovers just to fight and tell them TWILGHT IS TERRIBLE TWILIGHT STINKS I HATE TWILIGHT ADDICTS. Now, at 16 years old the books do appeal to me because I am about the same age as Bella and I'm just trying to figure out who I am and trying to find "the one" vampire or not Edward is a good guy and Bella fell in love with him. I think it was a wonderful story about romance. Also what you have to keep in mind is that Twilight is a work of fiction. It is not real and no one ever said it was. I love reading and I read all kinds of books and Twilight was just one of the books I loved.

Hehehe yes. I think i mentioned before, Sane fans are always welcome because we love the discussion ^-^. Some anti's might seem a bit extreme but you'll see that about 95% (at least from the users i met) are pretty nice and don't like it when someone says that anti's should fight back.

I think all of this stuff is wayyy too over the top.
Fans are like stalking the actors and they have to realize that the actors are not the actual characters that walked off the page. When they are in the movie they are just acting like the characters. People really have to learn to get that. Not that saying I wouldn't love an Ashley Greene autograph or something, but I wouldn't stalk her or anything she is a real person with a real life. Don't get me wrong I loved the books and I went to the Midnight release of Breaking Dawn and it was really fun, but some people are just crazy lol.

I finished reading twilight and forgot about it again until the movie aired. I didn't like it at all. I was constantly wondering why they chose those actors. A friend of mine was an anti and showed me Twilightsucks.com when we talked about what went wrong with the movie.
I lurked the site for about a month before i decided to join. At first i was pretty shocked when i read abou those fan encounters. I couln't believe what some obsessed fans could do, and as time went by some of those stories were branded with the "bullshit" stamp, because we figured out that it were just stories, nothing more.

Okay .. I am definietly a Twilight fan but I've gone unprovoked on this site for 5 months, until some bratty, foul-mouthed child called me a TwiFag and all TwiHards pussies. And started posting TWILIGHT SUCKS in fanclubs. I agree there are some weirdos that stalk RPattz and stuff and I DEFINITELY wouldn't do that b/c he is a person and he isn't Edward (but I like Rob Pattinson very much as a person, he is funny and sweet and sincere).

To be honest, I absolutely hate Twilight haters and some girls have just strengthed that. But you seem to be a very nice person, Valhorian, so good on you for not sinking to their levels. And I like manga too :)

PS: I love Twilight b/c it's a classical love story with a twist and the characters are so real that I wouldn't be surprised if Bella came up and asked me a question in English tomorrow. SMeyer isn't the best writer, definitely not, but someone that can make you cry and laugh and gasp in a book is definitely worth your time :) And I'm 14, so I can relate to Bella's self-consciousness and awkwardness :)

I think the best you can do with haters of any kind, is to ignore them when they try to talk to you (online).
They'll probably try to provoke you by insulting you and what you love (if its an anti then they'd insult twilight) and if you answer with " °w° *ignoring primitive lifeform*" it'll probably be worse for a few posts..but when they notice that they don't get that what they want-your participation in that fight- they'll most likely stop and go away.
Thats how i do it. I ignore what i don't like...and that drives them crazy X3

Then she said after she showed me it "i belive it's an inprovment" That was it, ( i overreacted as allways) and grabed a Sharpie and wrote: I love Edward Cullen on the back of her hand. But it didn't do much good b/c she just spit on it and blurred it out. My internet went down after that, so i was stuck with that for a LONG time!!

There are differences, of course, but we aren't like another planet, seriously, the questions some people ask (not you, Alice, you do actually understand we all live on earth). One person thought we didn't celebrate Christmas and that we were like Asian countries. I laughed so hard! It was pretty funny.
Okay..a stubbie is a certain amount of beer in either a bottle or a can. And singlets are tanktops that we wear underneath clothes for warmth but bogans wear them outside.
