George Canning, the Earl of Carlisle, Marquis Wellesley, the Right Hon. J.H. Frere, W. Gifford, Esq., the Rt. Hon. W. Pitt, G. Ellis, Esq., and others. London: G. Willis, 1854. Second edition, inscribed on the front free endpaper "Charles Dickens, Esq./with the Editor's respects./July 23 54." Publisher's brown cloth, housed in a silk chemise and an elaborate pull-off case of red morocco by Sangorski and Sutcliffe, with Dickens' lion armorial tooled on the upper surface. 6 3/4 x 4 1/4 inches (17.5 x 10.5 cm); xvi, 248 pp., with 6 plates (including frontispiece). Front joint cracked, small loss to head of spine, otherwise bright, housed in a handsome and well-preserved case. The pastedown bears Dickens' personal armorial bookplate (a lion couchant) and the 1870 plate from the posthumous dispersal of his Gadshill library.

The Charles Dickens Museum has acquired a large collection of 300 items, including artifacts and documents, and "25 books from Dickens’s own library."

The collection was sold to the Dickens Museum and originated in the US. From the description, I imagine Dickens scholars will know what collection this was. The museum says it will be cataloged online in the next two years.

I have a copy of the auction catalogue of Dickens’ library which was sold on his death. Is there any way I can use it to form a legacy library?
