Announced Jan 7, 2009 at 8:58 AM

In a post on her website, Twilight author, Stephenie Meyer, confirms that Taylor Lautner will reprise his role as Jacob in the hit vampire romance's sequel, New Moon. This news ends months of curiosity about whether Lautner would return. The full text of the announcement, which includes a statement from New Moon director, Chris Weitz, is at http://www.StephenieMeyer.com.

TAYLOR LAUTNER FLEXES HIS MUSCLES
Jan. 11, 2009 at 4:22 p.m. EST

Taylor's been working out really hard since Twilight wrapped to prepare for Jacob's growth spurt in New Moon. The following video shows the results so far, but he's working on gaining more muscles before filming begins in March:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEYT5cNK-pA

~ If you'd like to see this in full screen mode, go to http://www.accesshollywood.com/taylor-lautner/taylor-lautner-premieres-new-moon-..., hover your mouse over the video on the right until a line of commands pops up and click on the rectangle on the left so you can watch the video in full screen mode. Now look at Taylor's biceps! Haha. He worked really hard to reprise his role so go Taylor.

There's a good article on this page too.

Hey their gonna get rid of Jacob's hair...that sucks

I like him better without the long hair.

Same here, the long hair makes him look like a horse

10G.A.B.E
jan 13, 2009, 10:32 pm

The long hair makes him look awfully young. I think they should just keep it short, it won't hurt the movie and he'd look better - maybe they don't want anyone looking better than Rob.

11Hermee
Redigeret: jan 14, 2009, 3:09 am

He has to have short hair to stay true to the book though. All the pack cut their hair short. Looks more mature with it shorter I reckon.

Would be a bit hard to look better than Edward since Jacob's not a dazzling Adonis. :D He's already making it look like Edward has some competition the way he's changing though, which matches New Moon and Eclipse. Did anyone notice in the video how much more mature his face seems since Twilight? He had more of a baby face then, which he seems to have lost now. His age seems perfectly in sync with his character since both Taylor and Jacob are going through changes.

Message 9- Lol!
They're keeping Rob as Edward right?? I hope so.

13Hermee
jan 14, 2009, 5:50 pm

Yes, but yesterday it was announced that the studio execs were really ticked off about Rob's new hair cut. He'd been told he couldn't cut it coz it would ruin their marketing. Am surprised it took this long to hear that they were peeved since it was inevitable considering that.

Ashley Greene said in an E! interview yesterday, "I heard he got in trouble for cutting his hair. But what can I say? I like guys with longer hair. I think he's getting enough flack, I'm sure. I mean his every move is recorded and photographed and documented, so I'm not going to give him a hard time."

Those confirmed for filming New Moon are Rob, Kristen, Taylor and, I believe, Billy Burke (Charlie) though I can't recall my source for Billy. Rob and Kristen are also confirmed for Eclipse.

Chris Weitz will direct both, which will be filmed back-to-back due to the ages of the characters so they don't age too much between filming.

14bombardalicious2

Ashley Greene will probably stay since I've heard alot of her on interviews and websites.

15Hermee
jan 14, 2009, 8:33 pm

Am surprised that all the Cullens haven't been confirmed yet. Can't imagine subsequent movies without them or other cast members. Can you? At www.imdb.com, it lists them as being in the cast, but not Taylor so is not accurate and I've not seen confirmation anywhere that they've signed yet.

Is there anyone you think should be replaced?

16bombardalicious2
jan 15, 2009, 5:06 pm

No

17G.A.B.E
jan 15, 2009, 6:33 pm

Hmm, maybe Rosalie. That's probably all, through the movie, I loved them all but Rosalie just didn't quite fit.
Message 11: I was talking about the actual actors, not the characters, lol =) In the books, no one can possibly look better than Edward. But in the movie, lots of people are saying that Taylor just might outshine RPat (saw this cute nickname somewhere). I think RPat looked much more handsome in Goblet of Fire. I wondered what changed? I mean, his skin was so nice and smooth and stuff and he looked way better. I'll find links of the two and you decide =)

18bombardalicious2
jan 15, 2009, 10:31 pm

Really, I like Nikki Reed but I hate how Alice, Jasper, Emmett, Rosalie, Carlisle, and Esme had so little parts. Good thing New Moon has quite a bit of Alice at the end! :)

jan 16, 2009, 12:07 am

Message 17: He doesn't have long hair in real life though. Am confused now.

There was an interview months ago where the interviewer told Rob some fans were calling him RPattz and asked what he thought of it. Here's the link to the it, but the question got cut off: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGkhQ3nkqno

Nikki doesn't look right as Rosalie to me at all. She's attractive, more so with her normal hair color (blond hair makes her look like a fake blond), but is not so beautiful your jaw would drop to the floor, and though her character does act like she doesn't like Bella, Nikki comes across as so angry that she doesn't even look attractive when she's annoyed. She seems more able to clear the room because she looks too scary if anything. Some women can look beautiful even when annoyed, which I expected from Rosalie.

Rob's face has matured a lot since Harry Potter, which it does throughout your turns, but especially from the age of 16. Taylor's a good example of that too coz he's losing his babyface. Rob's looks in Harry Potter were more the pure and pretty-boy type whereas now he's matured a lot. He's also said in an interview that he's addicted to fast food, especially Hot Pockets. Pepperioni and sausage is his fave Hot Pocket. He thinks it's a travesty that they came out with veggie ones. Would make an excellent spokesperson for Hot Pockets actually. Am surprised they've not asked him to do a commercial since that interview. Can get you the link to the interview if you like ... if I can remember which one it was.

21G.A.B.E
jan 16, 2009, 3:06 am

I'm confused too now, Hermee o_0? *scratching head* oh well =)
I agree, Nikki is very pretty with her natural hair (nearly black) and skin colour (tanned). Normally, she is sort of jaw droppingly beautiful but not as a blond and pale. When she's blond and pale, she looks kinda fat to me. But maybe that's just me.
I think he would make a great Hot Pockets spokesperson, lol =)
But if you noticed, Rob is sort of paranoid and weird. In all the interviews I've seen (about twenty, I'd say) he has said strange, random things that you sort of laugh off but think about later and has many phobias such as driving and then crashing and dying in the back of a cab. I laughed.

22Hermee
Redigeret: jan 16, 2009, 4:25 am

Am trying to find the Hot Pockets one. Here are a few of my faves for you while I look coz they're pretty funny in parts (he's a funny guy):

On the Twilight set: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1TTA4RDo1o
Extra: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxFa7D8kL74
Access Hollywood, Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1ZGFABe1S4&feature=related
Access Hollywood, Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwGYNffJQ1Y
Laura Culpepper: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZlfp97mPKA&feature=related

The first interview I ever saw of Rob on the Twilight set, as well as another that Kristen gave in a separate interview, were so bad I figured they both weren't good at interviews, but they seem to have improved a lot since then. Kristen's are mostly serious coz she is very serious. Rob's went from really bad to funny, and now they're either funny or really good. Have been impressed with the thought he's put into some of his responses in later interviews.

Saw one where he said he was scared of flying so will look for that too. Have a whole bunch saved in my YouTube account. Just have to weed through them. Brb once I've dug them up since I've got waaaaaaaaaaaay more than 20. Haha. :D

Just found this phobia interview and wasn't even looking for it. Is this one of those you meant, Nicky:

Robert Pattinson's big fear
Thursday, 15 January 2009
Source: http://www.myparkmag.co.uk/articles/celebrity/robert-pattinson/robert-pattinsons... (via http://twilighters.org/)

Most people have one thing they are afraid of - and Twilight star Robert Pattinson is no different. He might be strong and fearless onscreen but he isn't that tough in his everyday life. When Rob was asked by Bravo magazine what scares him he replied: "Darkness! I can't fall asleep without a light!
"And I don't like driving. Even in a taxi."

His onscreen lover Kristen Stewart doesn't have a problem with the dark but admits that she is scared of too much publicity. She said: "I don't want my life to change too much. That would be horrible! "It's not often, but sometimes I can go to Los Angeles without being seen. That's always nice."

~ How ironic that he's afraid of the dark and driving when he's a vampire who can't be in the sunlight and has a shiny, silver Volvo that he speeds around in at around in at over 100 mph. You'd never guess watching the scene where he zooms between cars after rescuing Bella near the restaurant although they did use a stuntman for those maneuvers.

At the source link above by the way, there's another link that leads you to Robert Pattinson gossip. Then there are many pages of links that are basically a recap of the video interviews you can find on YouTube.

Here's another phobia interview I just stumbled upon:

Robert Pattinson's stab terror
Tuesday, 23 December 2008
Source: http://www.myparkmag.co.uk/articles/celebrity/robert-pattinson/robert-pattinsons...

Robert Pattinson might have millions of fans after appearing as Edward Cullen in Twilight but he also has the odd stalker or two. Robert has admitted that he is scared of what could happen if a fan got too close to him. He told Collider: "I just don't want to get stabbed or something. Literally, my representation asked me, 'Do you have any problems with this? Is it going to be okay?' I said, 'I just don't want to get shot or stabbed. I don't want someone to have a needle and I'll get AIDS afterwards.' "That's only my real fears."

Crowds seem to scare Robert as there could be a fanatic fan hiding ready to attack him. He added: "Whenever I see a crowd I always think that. It's like being on a plane. I think the bottom is going to hit the runway when it's taking off."

~ The ones I've added are in YouTube videos as well. Just don't remember which ones.

26G.A.B.E
jan 17, 2009, 1:10 am

I can't find the article but the writer made a little fun of him, I remember. And in one he was like, "When six thousand girls are screaming together, it sounds like .. like the devil's coming down upon them or something." And I was like WTH, are you on crack? So he's weird but I guess that's why we love him. Also, he says he can't stand watching himself on screen, he says he vomits if he does. 0_o"

That's actually a really good description of him; a tortured & crazy artist. But that's good, in its own way. Who would want to date a normal (boring) guy when you could have a tortured, crazy artist? At least there's a topic for discussion =)

Have that interview saved in my YouTube account. Don't recall which one it is, but if I remember, I'll add the link in here, Nicky.

The characteristic I like the most about Rob is that he's so natural. He doesn't say stuff to impress. He's just himself. Most actors wouldn't admit to flaws and phobias, but Rob wears his heart on his sleeve and has no trouble talking about them. This makes him more real, like the boy next door.

You know, I just finished reading Eclipse for the second time today and I was thinking how similar Jacob is to Rob. The chemistry between Rob and Kristen is electric, but since Kristen has a boyfriend, Rob's on the sidelines just like Jacob so he's reversed roles with the character whose his rival in the books. Kind of ironic really.

36G.A.B.E
jan 18, 2009, 7:57 pm

Yeah, that's really awesome how he is so cool about his imperfections. I just wish that Kristen and Rob would get together! It'd be every Twi-Hard's dream come true. BTW, I just read The Host today and I think it's so awesome, in some ways it's better than Twilight actually (*gasp*, I'd thought I'd never see the day)

37Hermee
jan 19, 2009, 12:40 am

Just finished it too before reading Eclipse and yes, it's pretty amazing. Wasn't keen on the first half at all. Took me ages to get into it, but then it got so good I was glued to it, racing through to see what happened next. Can't wait for books two and three. As much as I love it, I still love the Twilight series the most, but it's only a smidgen behind. It's certainly good fodder while waiting - hopefully, crossing fingers - for books to be written about other Twilight characters though I hope most of all that Midnight Sun gets written after all and comes out first. I hope, I hope, I hope.

38MrsGrinch
jan 19, 2009, 11:22 am

Stephenie Meyer said somewhere that she's not ready to say goodbye to the Twilight characters, but that she wants to concentrate on other novels first, i.e. The Host series and other stories she has in mind. Can't remember where she said that, but here's a video where she's said there's a possibility there will be more (see the point to the right where she says this if you only want to see that part): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVEvEtF08S8&feature=PlayList&p=BB80525661... = 2:34

Another where Stephenie talks about the same thing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLVny-rRdDE&feature=PlayList&p=BB80525661... = 4:23

jan 19, 2009, 10:29 pm

Can you tell me who she thinks she might write about in the last one, Hermee? I can't hear it.

47Hermee
jan 20, 2009, 8:57 pm

Do you mean at 1:45 on the second link, Nicky? If so, she said she doesn't feel the need to tell a story about Alice and Jasper, or Rosalie and Emmet, but maybe someday she'll write one on Carlisle. However, she said that would involve doing a lot of research on his history and she said (either on this video or another one) that she's too lazy to do that. I'll dig up a few others that talk about the same thing and add them here.

48bombardalicious2
jan 20, 2009, 9:24 pm

Aww, I think she should continue a story after Breaking Dawn. I'd love a story about Alice and Jasper and Rosalie and Emmett! :)

49Hermee
jan 20, 2009, 9:44 pm

She said in one interview that she's shown Alice a lot more in Midnight Sun although she may not publish it now due to the leak. She hasn't ruled out stories on them exactly. She's not really decided from what I've surmised from interviews. Let me see if I can dig up the other interviews.

i know i know this is several conversations ago...but didn't Jacob not cut his hair until the fourth book?

52Hermee
jan 22, 2009, 12:03 am

In New Moon after Jacob goes through the transformation into a werewolf (following the movie with Bella and Mike), he cuts his hair to be like the others in the pack so he's got short hair the next time Bella sees him.

In Eclipse in the cave when they're in the tent Jacob says he's growing his hair for Bella coz she likes it longer and makes a comment at that time (I believe) that he's hairier as a werewolf than the others in the pack because of the fact that he's growing his hair out whereas the others are all keeping theirs short.

53G.A.B.E
jan 22, 2009, 4:44 am

Yep, that's right. Bella asked, "Why are you so much furrier than the others?"
And he said, "Oh, you're mind-reader will just tell you anyway - I grew it out b/c it seemed you liked it better that way."
Or something along those lines.

I was embarrassed for poor Jacob.
Anyway, I was creeped out in Breaking Dawn when they are saying goodbye to Nessie & Jake and Edward says to Jake, "Goodbye my brother .. my son." I was like, "Ew, son?" I was just creeped out by that.

59Hermee
jan 26, 2009, 6:01 am

I thought that was pretty creepy too, Nicky. Brother seemed appropriate, but not son although when you think of it, Edward has been living for 108 years so considering that he would be an elder to Jacob by a lot more than a smidgen.

Love the acceptance part of it though that signifies a complete turnaround in their feelings towards one another. Jacob went from despising Edward and being willing to kill him if it came to thinking of him as family as well and being accepted by Edward in return as a brotherly figure (ok and son), as well as being entrusted with the life and well-being of the one Edward holds most precious other than Bella.

60G.A.B.E
jan 27, 2009, 12:39 am

Yes, it was great that it meant that now they finally loved each other and came to respect each other as brothers but the son part was a bit weird. I don't think of Edward as a 108 y.o vampire, I think of him as a mature teenager.

61Hermee
jan 27, 2009, 1:16 pm

A teenager wise beyond his years, that's for sure. Imagine having all that knowledge from attending any school you like, cramming your head with everything you wished to learn. You'd think you'd pop with that much.

If I were a vampire, I'd want to learn tons of musical instruments and forms of dance as well as learning different subjects that interest me, plus read every book that interested me. Imagine having that much time to read. What would you like to learn through immortality?

62G.A.B.E
jan 30, 2009, 1:18 am

I would like to speak lots of languages fluently (Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, French ..) and read lots of books. And live all over the world. Wow.

63Hermee
jan 30, 2009, 3:33 pm

That too. Imagine knowing every language in the world and being an encyclopedia of knowledge. You could ace Who Wants to be a Millionnaire and appear on their charity shows to raise loads for your fave charity as well.

Where to travel to when the world's your oyster. What would your top five choices be?

64G.A.B.E
jan 30, 2009, 4:49 pm

That's TOUGH!
1. Japan (I just love their culture and language)
2. Spain
3. Germany (all that history!)
4. England
5. Korea
That's my top five :D

65Hermee
jan 30, 2009, 8:32 pm

Mine would be:

1. Australia
2. Hong Kong, China (grew up here and miss it)
3. Cornwall, England (coz I've never explored that part of it and it sounds fascinating)
4. Thailand
5. Caymen Islands

If we had Alice's capability though, we could predict the stock market. That way, we could afford to visit all those and more. :D

66G.A.B.E

jan 30, 2009, 11:24 pm

Back to way up there where you guys said it was creepy for Edward to say "Goodbye my brother, my son" or whatever.
I thought it was very Carlisle-like of him.
And since Edward wants to be like Carlisle I think it was cool.
Also since Jacob is with Renesmee he would be his son-in-law.
But like Nicky says.."Each to his own" :)

68Hermee
jan 30, 2009, 11:30 pm

Yep. Was great growing up there. My family and I went to the beach a lot and barbecues with bunches of friends and did some hiking too. One of my sisters still lives there. Have lived in America for many years (and have an uncle, plus cousin and family here too), but was born in England where most of my family live.

69Hermee
jan 30, 2009, 11:42 pm

True, Alice. He would be his son-in-law. As Renesmee is still a child coupled with the short transition from enemy to friend to son, although I can partly grasp it, another part of me has a hard time getting my head around it.

70G.A.B.E
jan 31, 2009, 9:58 pm

That's a good point, Alice.
Huh .. never thought of that :)
That would be something Carlisle would do and it's great but it just creeped me out for a second b/c I'm so used to Jacob hating Edward with a mad passion.

I thought that that was a cool thing for Edward to say. It was him getting his head around Jacob being imprinted on Renesmee. In all terms and purposes Jacob is his son.

I thought it was a little strange, but I kinda didn't think much about it. I was waiting for Alice to jump in and save the day.

True ... Jacob is his close friend (brother) and son as in terms of how Jake is attached to Nessie.

Love Comes In Mysterious Ways.
Love Is A blessing
Love is a sacrifice.
Love makes it not weird thta edward refers to jacob as his brother and son.
I might as well say love comes in many forms about the issue with Jacob and Resesmee. If you cant figure this out im a romantic.

Hello, Im new to the group and just wanted to add a note to the original topic. I think Taylor was great for the pre-wolf part but I'm not sure if he will be able to pull off the post-wolf part. He just looks so young & he doesnt have the size that Jacob is supposed to have in the book once he transitions. I love Jacob so I hope I wont be disappointed if he doesnt pull it off.

Hello Scrpo and welcome. Did you see the links in message six that show a buffed up Taylor. His agreement with Chris Weitz is to pack on four more pounds on top of that, but he's aiming for even more. He's worked out a lot with Edi who's seen Taylor's transformation materialize in the gym. Edi would be a good teacher as well coz he's very buff.

Am not sure what they're going to do about the height though. Taylor will probably be taller than in Twilight due to the fact that he's in his growth spurt age, but they'd need to make him even taller. Peter Jackson did a good job of making the hobbits look smaller in Lord of the Rings, but I'm not sure if that method was costly and Summit's got a much lower budget to work with.

I really don't care if Taylor isn't tall enough.
Really, none of the actors/actresses fit their roles psyhically (sp?) perfectly.

Somehow I don't think all his fans are going to be concentrating much on his height after seeing all those muscles. :D

I was like, "WOW! He looks so much not like a boy anymore!" I thought he'd at least put four years of age on. I could have said he was 20 instead of 16 (turning 17).
I wish I had commitment like that. I try to exercise but alas, I don't :)

When you're scrutinized by the press, it's hard not to really. Many people commented on how Taylor looked too young, not buff enough or tall enough and then he had the added bonus of finding out he might be replaced so he had a lot of incentive.

Look what they said about Jessica Simpson of late, or did you not hear about that in Aussie? She wore something that made her look heavier (a wide belt with jeans can make your boobs stand out, for instance) and she got hounded relentlessly in the press for being overweight. People can be really mean sometimes. Also, many don't seem to realize that the camera adds 10 pounds so whoever you see on camera is actually 10 pounds less.

Go through bouts with working out, but have been really lazy for ages although I can say my fingers are very slender after all the exercising they get on the keyboard and turning pages. :D
