...but was going to start my own if this didn't happen. Hehe :D

I loved Daine, but Alanna was up there too.

aug 4, 2006, 1:09pm

Oh, oh, and what girl *didn't* have a crush on Numair!? (I still occasionally drool over him...)

aug 8, 2006, 12:24am

My heart belonged to George. He was so perfect.

aug 9, 2006, 7:16am

Really? I did like him a bit, I remember, but Numair was so... scholarly. He had that tall, handsome professor-thing going on. :P

aug 9, 2006, 11:41am

I like Jonathon, but he put Kel on probation........now I like George.

aug 9, 2006, 10:18pm

I was in love with Jonathan, George second. Numair always creeped me out a little, can't really explain why.

I've always been an unrepetentant Alanna/Jonathan shipper though. There's no love like your first love.

aug 9, 2006, 12:49am

really liked the Jon/Alanna hook up, but Pierce says Alanna didn't like Jon, and it's Alanna's way or no way

Thank you for the invite. This group looks like fun. I was always a fan of the "boy's adventure" books, and Allanna was published just as I grew out of the target age group. I am really thrilled to see more and more adventure books featuring women in leading and strong background roles.

I don't know how many comics readers there are here, but has anyone else read Polly and the Pirates?

It's silly, but a great deal of fun.

George was the best. Goofy, teasing and fun.

aug 11, 2006, 8:17pm

I really liked Jonathan until he turned out to be a jerk in The Woman Who Rides Like a Man. But George has now grown on me, especially after the Trickster books.

aug 17, 2006, 8:07pm

Haven't read the Trickster books, but Jon was a real jerk! He practically commanded Alanna to marry him! George was really cool though! He always watched out for Alanna!

I like Jon and George, but Numair is so cool! (I just started to read Wild Magic, so I just met Numair. I love in the Lady Knight book, when he sends that cloud of something out so the refugees won't get rained on! He's sweet and scholarly!

aug 21, 2006, 8:47pm

I agree with Bonne now! Jon was cool, until he turned jerk! George is cool!

aug 23, 2006, 4:19am

Keeping in mind, of course, that Jon spent his whole life around people who would do what he wanted. He's a prince, and he acts like it. Since he and Alanna were friends, and she knew what being a knight was like (unlike the other ladies of the court), she was the "obvious" choice for him to marry.

Luckily, Alanna took him down a few pegs in that regard.

But yeah, George has always been my favorite along with Myles and Raoul.

Anyone remember Liam? He's always stuck in my mind.

aug 26, 2006, 4:56pm

I remember Liam, but I never liked him as much as Jon or George. He was always kind of shady, my way or no way.

aug 28, 2006, 3:46pm

Liam didn't really strike me as the romantic type. He did die for the king and Alanna though!

aug 31, 2006, 9:26pm

I like Numair. Although Numair Salmalin is a much more scholary name than Arram Draper. I read the Keladry books before the Immortals series, so I was surprised to learn that his given name wasn't really Numair Salmalin.

One of things I've always really liked about Pierce's books is that the main characters don't end up with the first guy that they kiss (or fall in love with, or even sleep with!). It's so much more realistic than the way it usually plays out in fiction.

Have to say, I always figured Alanna would end up with George instead of Jonathan -- she and Jon are good friends and make a good team, but George was always so much more INTERESTING. :)

My personal Tortall crush is currently Nawat, I have to say...

sep 6, 2006, 8:27pm

What book is Nawat in?

sep 7, 2006, 7:54pm

Nawat's in the Trickster books. I like him too :)

nov 19, 2006, 10:33pm

I just started reading the Trickster books. i really like Nawat! it's so cute how clueless he is
