I'm a new Kindler & have just had my first book (Brass Verdict by Michael Connely) downloaded. It's driving me crazy because it was sent to the address where I'll be in a couple weeks, so I can't even use it yet!
I am wondering if any of you miss the physical pleasures of holding and reading a book - - turning pages, checking how many pages till the next chapter, etc... Also, I often read in a prone position, so I wonder how that's going to work out.
Gosh, this post is beginning to sound a bit naughty, what with physical pleasures and all, so I'd better stop now.

Hi Delilah,
I find that if I read the Kindle in its cover, I am very comfortable. The cover feels soft in my hands, so I don't miss holding a book. Also, you don't have to adjust your position differently for the left and right pages. If you read lying on your side, this is a real pleasure! If I read on my back, I pull the elastic strap over the bottom right corner to prevent it from falling out of the cover.
I am frustrated by not knowing how many pages until the end of the chapter, I confess, but otherwise, I really love reading on the Kindle.
I hope you enjoy it too!

I don't miss anything about paper books. The Kindle is so much lighter and easier to deal with there's no comparison for me.

I prefer reading on the Kindle, and by the way you can sort of check how far to the end of the book.
If you go to menu , Go to Location it will bring up a screen for you to enter a number in, that screen will show 1 - xxxx the xxxx will be the highest number you can go to. That will give you an idea of how far you need to go to get to the end.
