Mitä pitää ottaa huomioon kansikuvaa lisätessä? Voinko esimerkiksi hakea kansikuvan mistä tahansa netistä ja ladata sitten tuon url:n perusteella? Jäin miettimään, kun luin tuolta ohjeista, että "Do not upload copyrighted images without permission" jne. Onhan sillä kansikuvalla tekijänoikeudet (vaikka sitten skannaisin kansikuvan)! Mutta miten sitten kansikuvan lisääminen tavalliselta käyttäjältä onnistuu?

Itse olen aika surutta lisännyt kansikuvia. Toisaalta ne ovat copyrightin alaisia, mutta toisaalta ne voidaan katsoa kirjan markkinoinniksi, ja ainakin jenkkiläisen lainsäädännön mukaan (joka taitaa librarythingin kannalta olla käytännössä ratkaisevin) taidetaan katsoa katekogiaan "fair use".

Replaceable?: As a book cover, the image is not replaceable by free content; any other image that shows the cover of the book would also be copyrighted, and any version that is not true to the original would be inadequate for identification or commentary.
Rationale: The use of this image, in connection with the display of bibliographic information about a specific edition, as part of the ISFDB, a non-profit bibliographic reference work, on servers located within the United States, is believed to constitute Fair Use within the meaning of United States copyright law. Reusers of the ISFDB's content should take care to be sure that their use conforms to applicable copyright law -- not all such uses will constitute fair use, and copyright law varies significantly in different nations.
